As a follow up, I disabled the POE feed and temporarily used its wall-wart as the power source to see if that made a difference, for science.
I didn't expect it to, and my expectations were quite met.
It still refuses to upgrade and sits there like a brick until it's power cycled.

Friendly *bump*! I'm sorry, HWMP+ feels like it's been abandoned/forgotten. I wish it hasn't... The CSS610 is SwOS only and doesn't cut it as a result; need the ability to secure the device properly and manage software updates and such centrally from The Dude.
Give us a CRS610 with CRS3XX-or-better switch chip functionality/integration from RouterOS, and you all can take our money!
