Re: v7.8 [stable] is released!

Anybody else having issues with Nextdns after upgrading to v7.8? It started giving me: DoH server connection error: Address not available It was working just fine for many months and several RouterOs upgrades. Setting Nextdns again according to their instructions didn't help so I had to disable Next...

Re: Repeater giving incorrect IP addresses

@holvoetn and @mkx: thanks for your help. There was no DHCP server set on the repeater, but somehow the 88 range was in the Addresses tab under IP. It could be an artifact of a recent upgrade or it may have been there until that upgrade but not used. I don't remember whether that repeater was set fr...

Repeater giving incorrect IP addresses

I have two Mikrotik routers, a main one and another one that is set in repeater mode. The local IP range is set to 192.168.1.x (not the default 192.168.88.x). When a laptop is started within the physical range of the repeater (i.e. much closer to the repeater than the main router, so that it connect...

Re: How to for a guest network that can't access the internal network

I was thinking of this, but there is a problem with devices with randomized MAC addresses that would not necessarily get the same IP addresses every time. In my explanation it assumes 2 different IP scopes. i.e. Local = 192.168.88.0/24 Guest = 10.0.0.1/24 The problem was not isolating the two netwo...

Re: How to for a guest network that can't access the internal network

Go into firewall address lists. Make a list for local devices. Make a list for guest devices. At the top of the forwarding chain in firewall filters... /IP firewall filter add chain=forward src-address-list=guest dst-address-list=local action=drop That's keeps guest from talking to devices on the l...

Re: How to for a guest network that can't access the internal network

Are there any updated instructions for RouterOS v7? I tried all instructions suggested in this thread as well as few others that I have found, however none of them has worked. In some cases the clients don't even get correct IP addresses (they get 169.254....) and in others they get correct IP addre...

Re: Is it possible to create a static DHCP lease based on host name?

Does anybody know if this is possible? The reason for needing this is that iOS 14 now randomizes the MAC addresses, but I would still like these devices to have fixed IP address on my own network without disabling the randomization. Can't you disable randomization for particular SSID only? It is po...

Is it possible to create a static DHCP lease based on host name?

As the title says, is it possible to create a static DHCP lease on the local network based on host name rather than on MAC address?

Re: clients disconnecting from the 5GHz network after several minutes

I don't think that it has something to do with the firewall as there are no different rules for the two networks. Also, I added logging to all drop rules and there were no entries to indicate that a client is misbehaving. If really needed, I would post the export here, but it would take me some time...

clients disconnecting from the 5GHz network after several minutes

I have a hAP ac², running the current long term version 6.43.14, but the issue existed in .13 too. Not sure about other versions because when I got the router, I upgraded it to the then current version .13. The issue goes as follows: if a client that is somehow far away from the router connects to t...

Re: wireless repeater for two different SSIDs on different frequencies?

Yes, but that wouldn't be optimal. Best approach is wiring both Haps, then have both broadcast any SSIDs you want on any of the two bands. Good scenario to use CAPsMAN. Any reason for not being optimal besides losing bandwidth? Having both devices on wired connection is not an option, only one coul...

wireless repeater for two different SSIDs on different frequencies?

I have a hAP ac lite that has two different wireless networks -- different SSIDs with different passwords, one on 2.4GHz and the other on 5GHz. If I get another hAP ac lite, would it be possible to use it as a wireless repeater for the two wireless networks?

Re: radar detected problems

Please tell me what kind of wireless clients are connected when this happens? Or even nearby. Specifically smartphones and their exact models. We have already fixed a similar issue caused by the iPhone 6s, but we have observed this with a different brand as well, just want to confirm first, before ...

Re: radar detected problems

In this video, Ron Touw explains why this happens, and what to do to minimize it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbrbRUAfpac Thanks for the link, it explains nicely the reasoning for radar detection. However the recommendations seem to be for WISPs and not home users. Moreover the frequency at whi...

radar detected problems

I am using hAP ac lite tower for the last few months. Wireless is set to 5GHz only if that matters. Both RouterOS and the firmware are the latest versions as of now (6.39.2 and 3.36). Starting several days ago, several times per day the router started disconnecting all clients, and on all occasions ...
