Re: How to increate dcoms devices

There's probably hard limit on number of LTE interfaces or USB devices in ROS. Also that's quite crazy! What's your use case to have 80(!!) LTE modems connected to a single ROS? There is no way there will be enough bandwidth for all of them to run at the same time unless you also added like 10 USB h...

Probably related to these SMB changes:

What's new in 7.14 (2024-Feb-29 09:10):

!) rose-storage - moved SMB service to the RouterOS bundle;
!) smb - removed legacy SMB service (replaced with newer and faster ROSE SMB service, compatible with SMB 2.1, SMB 3.0 and SMB 3.1.1);

No. First problem is that Asus card uses Intel wlan module and that's not supported in ROS. Only Atheros/Qualcomm WIFI drivers are in ROS. And even if it was 802.11ax Qualcomm card, it would not work because Mikrotik simply doesn't include any newer drivers in x86 ROS, best wireless that's supported...

Yes, LDF2 will be able to use both chains to SXT unlike Metal that's limited to single chain. The big RS232 connector pins go nowhere (there is missing level shifter IC under it) so that will not work. Re: RB760iGS ROS7.3.1/FW7.3.1 Failed to boot (x2)

Make sure you have dumb switch between PC and RB, so PC network interface doesn't come up/down/up/down... during RB reboots. If it does, it can miss the time window to initiate netinstall procedure, because especially newer windows versions are super slow to bring up the interface.

Re: Can I move my x86 VM VMDK to Physical Machine?

No. License is bound to the boot hard drive serial number and other identifiers. They will be different for every HDD and always different from ones used by VM, so license will be lost. Other than that, moving ROS from VM to real HDD would be as easy as converting VMDK to raw disk image and writing ...

You can try emailing support if they could give you some details. But generally if it affects just TX power (and RX sensitivity is fine) it must be caused by PA or possibly antenna switch chip. Connecting two dishes is pretty much out of the question at these frequencies. You can use it as transparent serial to tcp bridge. If you add RS485 convertor it may do MODBUS or any other protocol.

I think you misunderstood. On-board diagnostic ports and protocols like UART/JTAG/ISP/SPI offer closer access to privileged busses. As you have found, running sniffer disables the interface for regular use, so it's not possible to run it together with regular AP or client.

Re: No terminal output on serial port

Mikrotik intentionally disables UART ports for whatever reasons, so it can't be used for anything. While devices with RS232 ports have boot/bios menus and spawn ROS console on the port by default, all boards with just TTL UART pins are completely useless. I was many times in a situation where using ...

Re: v6.49 [stable] is released!

SFP rate low/hi is state on a specific SFP slot pin. Actual function depends on specific SFP module model and should be noted in a documentation/datasheet. There is no standardized meaning what low and high mean, that's up to the SFP manufacturer to define.

Re: 951 2HnD fault [SOLVED]

If the LEDs are lit dimly, that usually means either power supply problems (ie. switching regulator, caps, ...) or CPU is dead/burned. I would start with easiest thing first, replace all electrolytic caps - it's the most common problem with mikrotik HW. Then measure voltages on all electrolytic caps...

Re: v6.48.5 [long-term] is released!

Even if this might be extreme use of DNS server, if boot time went from 1 minute to 13 minutes, something is clearly wrong. Also it seems that version of routerboot matters and obviously routerboot doesn't care if you run DNS or anything else... so likely other software performance is also affected....

Re: v7.1rc3 adds Docker (TM) compatible container support

No, because entire point of having docker is to isolate it from rest of the ROS environment. Maybe sharing USB block devices with docker container can be added as a feature later... But for now you can use following workaround: Set up serial port server(s) in ROS and then you can access your USB ser...

Re: winbox can't work correctly if "users" folder moved from disk C:

It would be good to have "portable" mode switch that would keep all files in current winbox directory - so it can be put and used from USB flash drive, without modifying any system files.
Something like: If subdirectory PORTABLE_PROFILE exists, store all files in there instead.

Re: R11e-5HacD / R11e-5HnD DFS and TPC support in Access Point Mode

Not only is TPC not supported, auto-frequency is not real DFS either. Mikrotik AP will choose channel with least number of scanned APs (irregardless of their signal level!) once and keep that channel until device is rebooted or AP interface is restarted. Actual DFS changes channels on the fly (there...

Re: v7.1rc3 adds Docker (TM) compatible container support

Single purpose containers can be very small, easily fitting into devices even with just 16MB of flash. I'm trying to get UDPXY working and it's looking like it will be <100kB container. Same for things like MQTT. Tiny containers with just a single compiled program and minimum required chroot. Sure, ...

It's separate package, so it's FULLY OPTIONAL . Also this package is very small (~60kb), but then you need space for docker data. Also currently it's not easy to use for users that doesn't know how docker works, but that can change if there is library of pre-made TAR files for some of the most wante...

I use x86 ROS on number of systems, always running off USB flash drive. As long as you use USB 2.0 ports (there's still a few on every mobo) it should boot no problem. I don't see need for running it from harddrive or SSD as there is really no need for more disk space and USB is very universal and e...

Sadly no, there is no way to do this as RB3011 routerboot (bios/bootloader) just doesn't support it. I had same problem with RB600 and RB800 and there I solved it by booting from CF card... but RB3011 doesn't have CF or any other boot option so you are out of luck. I understand there are some proprietary protocols for mesh networking and dynamic WDS. But pure simple static WDS should just work as it's nothing special. Client connects just like in normal connection, but then 4 address packets are used. WDS mapping on AP is done by manually creating the WDS inte...

Wanted to use some cheap dual-band APs running OpenWRT to work as extenders sharing 5GHz uplink to IOT devices on 2.4GHz. But problem is that OpenWRT client can't do bridged traffic. Only other option is to use WDS, but that also doesn't work. I have set up test like this: - Routerboard AP (ap bridg...
