How to Configure Verizon Novatel USB760 3G modem

I have been struggling with getting a USB760 to work reliably with a Mikrotik. I found this reference on a Linux forum, tried it and now the USB760 is stable, i.e. will not cause the serial port to drop and require a hard reboot. By default, the modem comes from Verizon with a feature enable to have...

Re: 3.14 upgrade bad on X86!!! causes CPU peg

OSPF seems to peg CPU as well, just not as fast.

Will try routing-test later tonight

Re: BGP causes CPU peg using 3.14 upgrade on X86!!!

I have benn able to confirm that the BGP module on 3.14 (and for that matter 3.14RC1) cause the CPU to peg on an x86. It works fine on 3.13.

Tech support advises to use routing-test for BGP if running 3.14

Here is the response I received on a support ticket about this question:

----------
Hello,

Currently we don't have similar features, but we will consider adding it in one of future releases.

3.14 upgrade bad on X86!!! causes CPU peg

The 3.14 x86 upgrade causes a CPU peg on several of my machines. The only way to get at the machine is to unplug the connection(s) providing routing updates, ftp on older version (3.13 workes for me) and reboot.

I suspect routing package, perhaps BGP.
Am running BGP and OSPF

linux kernel failure versions 3.6 and 3.7

Greetings I have several rb100 and rb500 tiks deployed. These versions cause reboots with an error message that the unit was unexpectedly restarted perhaps because of a power failure or because the Linux kernel failed. The frequency of reboot is dependent on the traffic load on the router. One of my...

Re: Redirect hotspot user to different page

Hi I have spent hours reading the 2.9 ref manual and looking at online posts. I am still stuck. Is there another reference I should look for? I modified login html and added two more forms to handle users who do not have a login and need to purchase one. At this point in the hosts tab of the hotspot...

Re: Redirect hotspot user to different page

Greetings

How do you get the mikrotik to authenticate once you have created the radius user?

What page(s) do you call on the TIK hotspot?

hotspot Nat appears broken in 3.4

Greetings

If I upgrade my hotspot to mipsle 3.4, I cannot reach destinations outside my routed network.

If downgrade back to 3.3, everything works swell

Re: 2.9.43 crashes

I was indeed doing inspect->add to list->drop. I now believe this was causing excessive CPU loading that resulted the crashes. I reordered the ip firewall filter list to drop traffic from the dynamic address list and inspect later packets that made it through all the other "drops". drop->i...

Re: 2.9.43 crashes

changeip

Thanks for your note. You are correct. I was doing inspect, add to dynamic address list if appropriate, then drop if on address list and thus looking at every packet. I have put the drop ahead of the inspect.

I'll let you know what happens.

Re: 2.9.43 crashes - Update

Greetings Last night the router was seeing 18MB of traffic with CPU spiking routinely at about 90%. One other thing that distinguishes this router from others running 2.9.43 is that it was using ip firewall to inspect packets and create a couple of dynamic address lists that were then used to block ...

2.9.43 crashes

Greetings I have a router that was stable until I added more traffic to it, ~10MB, and then added OSPF. It crashes every 4 days. I dropped back to 2.9.40. It crashed within 18 hours. I am back to 2.9.43 as of 15 hours ago but have disabled OSPF and am using static routes. The router either quits upd...

Re: How to save a dynamic IP-List

/ip firewall address-list pr list=my_dynamic_address_list file=exported_list

will export the dynamic list called my_dynamic_address_list to a file called exported_list.txt which can then be retrieved via FTP from the box.
