Hotspot: How do we manage devices on the LAN segment?

In a hotspot environment, imagine all subscribers are located on the LAN segment, how do we manage the devices on the LAN segment?

How do we configure MT to allow devices on the LAN segment to bypass the hotspot login so it can reach our network management system?

Hotspot: How to synchronize IP address assigned by DHCP?

We are using IP address to differentiate two groups of users who exist in the same LAN. The IP addresses are assigned by MT Hotspot. Currently when user turn on their PC, they are assigned an IP by MT DHCP. When they log in using Hotspot, our Radius server will assign an IP from the Framed_pool IP a...

Re: Linksys SRW208P & RB532 & RM133

Can someone post a list of the RB-compatible POE switch?

Looking for 8 port POE with one Gigabit fiber uplink, any suggestion?

Linksys SRW208P & RB532 & RM133

Anyone has any success in getting Linksys SRW208P to power RB532 and RB133 using POE? I read about the issue of support for 802.3af in RB, just wondering if there's any changes there? Are the latest version of RB532/A or RB133 support in-data-line power or it's still follow the usual out-of-data-lin...

We also see this problem. It only appear after we set the connection limit to each user. When the problem happened, the user is shown the login page, but the user can continue to browse without logging in at the login page.

How do we troubleshoot this problem?

rb500 series support only 2 pcmcia interfaces. That's a pretty random answer - neither on-topic nor accurate? I'd say you're being a bit ambitious with the RB532 if you plan to aggregate those links & use to their full extent... I doubt the cpu will cope with that traffic... Why not go one of t...

are you thinking of making 3 ends connected to the rb532a for 20mbit each?
Actually we want to aggregate 3x 20Mbps using Ethernet (RB532A with ethernet extender), with a total aggregated throughput of 60Mbps. Anyone tried that?

RB532A for link aggregation - How's the performance?

We plan to use RB532A to aggregate 3 links of 20Mbps each. We are currently doing it with a P3 server which is a bit too bulky for remote site environment.

Do you think RB532A can handle link bonding of 3x 20Mbps? Any experience to share? What is the max. speed and the # of link RB532A can handle?

And as I already mentioned, the XR5 can successfully be configured to 5GHz-5MHz mode from the console AND SERIAL. It works just fine. Anyone has experience on NMP-8602 plus (400mw) used as hotspot?

We used a few units of NMP-8602 (200mw) as mesh hotspot and they have worked without any problem.

Marksx,
Have you tried Celeron CPU? Is their performance on par with the P3?
What do you think of this board: http://www.commell.com.tw/product/SBC/LE-370Z.HTM

I see that your cooling device still have a mechanical fan. Do you know if it's stable with only the heatsink but not the fan?[/url]

Between CM9 and R52, which one has better receive sensitivity in your experience?

If I only limit to 802.11b, will it increase the coverage?

I was told the Senao NMP-8602 will operate optimumly on channel 6. Any idea if CM9 and R52 work similarly?

For R52 or CM9 what is the recommended antenna to use with? I am thinking of using 5dBi desktop type antenna. Would that be sufficient?

Between R52 and CM9 which one has higher power and better rec. sensitivity in your experience?

Best 2.4Ghz radio module for hotspot

We need to setup some hotspots around the buildings to serve users housed in rooms. Any idea which is the best 2.4Ghz radio module? The NMP-8602+ seems to give enuf power to penetrate the walls but there are few horror stories flying around, though our experience with them has been fine. Our other c...
