Re: Best practices to combine an LHG LTE Kit with a mesh of Audience devices

Where I have done 4G installs in the past I have made the LHG/SXT the router/firewall and run everything on a single subnet behind that. Either the AP or LHG can run your DHCP server - it doesn't really matter. You will have C-NAT as your on 4G anyway, so adding double-NAT to that is probably best a...

Re: Audience mesh: number of mesh APs and of clients?

Audience is hopeless for mesh. I have three, all with good LOS and about 20m apart.. 100mb/s max

Still waiting for 4-address support on the wifiwave2 package so can actually make use of the hardware.

Re: 60 GHz indoors?

Been testing today... Either end of an open plan floor. Audience in client/AP - 150Mb/s Wifi60G - 800Mb/s I've installed them just above head height. Even when one fell off the wall (I'd stuck them up with masking tape for the test) - speed fell to 750Mbps! Going to install a pair of these and turn ...

Re: 60 GHz indoors?

I've got some WAP60s that I might try indoors - I currently use them to bridge my home to some outbuildings. Performance is superb (~800Mbps TCP). I bought some Audiences to use indoors (long narrow space) and they are frankly rubbish until such time as wifiwave2 supports bridging. I will have a cou...

Re: Low throughput with 3x Audience

Even 5m apart at 160Mhz I get 160Mbps TCP on the QCA9984 radio. Why is this device so bad PtMP? May try linking with the 5Ghz IPQ4019 instead as I get 300Mbps client to radio?? The Audience is shockingly bad for the purpose it is intended for as that fancy 4x4 radio is severely hampered by the drive...

This can't come soon enough.. I invested in 3 audiences and regretted it since.
Cannot get more than around 160Mbps between them even if they are in the same room!

Re: Low throughput with 3x Audience

Patiently waiting for 4 address support to arrive in wifiwave2. However, in the meantime I remain convinced that MT wifi cannot be *that* bad and my config must be wonky somehow.. Even where two Audiences are in the same room 9 meters apart with LOS - I max out at around 150Mbps TCP between them on ...

Re: Low WiFi speeds on hAP ac²

Do note that Audience with current firmware won’t be any faster. It may even be slower. The Mikrotik drivers for the QCA9984 appear to be pretty poor. I get just over 200Mbps with two units in the same room.

The wifiwave2 drivers are quite limited at the moment. No bridging.

Re: Low WiFi speeds on hAP ac²

What channel width are you using?
I think by default it is set to 20/40. 20/40/80 XXXX may be worth a try if your client card supports an 80Mhz channel.

Re: Low throughput with 3x Audience

I put the ACV2 drivers on my Audience. It's set up as a 3 radio WAP ONLY. CAPS-MAN NO LONGER WORKS. Adding virtual APs has caused the radio to crash. Changing an SSID caused a radio to get stuck on searching for channel. But... When it's working... I finally get throughput ~ 400M/400M with a house ...

Re: v7.1rc3 [development] is released!

Hey, I got an Audience loaded with RC3 and WifiWave2. Wave2 package is here for about half a year. However, it seems to be very rough still. WifiWave2 doesn't seem to support clients in "station bridge" mode. I.e. proprietary extensions seem to be not in place for this driver yet - there'...

Re: v7.1rc2 [development] is released!

LEDs seem to be broken since v7.1rc1 on the Audience.
There is no way to configure the LEDs, it seems like they are not added to the boards configuration anymore.

Same here. Blue led appears during boot, but green led during normal operation is not lit.

Many thanks for taking the time to do this - it's really appreciated. wifiwave2 - WLAN bridging not working (2x Audience client/AP)

I have 3 Audiences at home. Having been a bit underwhelmed with them I was keen to try the wifiwave2 package with ROS7.1rc1 I managed to get one setup as an AP on wifi3 (qca9984 radio) and another as client - all showing as connected, but cannot ping between them. It seems as if bridging wasn't work...

Well. I tried 7.1 out of desperation. No improvement. I get 300Mbps+ from client to Audience on the ipq4019 with zero tweaking but at most 200Mbps between Audiences that are a few metres apart on QCA9984 radio which should be capable of much more. Audience has station roaming enabled by default.

Maybe I miss something, but why do you need to access the device more than once? I’ve set up a number of these for a local rural community - they’ve all been running on a data plan on the same SIM for 2 years (apart from one where the SIM died for some reason).

Re: WAP ac 5GHz issues with iPhone XS

I don't have an iPhone Xs to test with but does knocking the 5Ghz down to a 40Mhz channel width make any difference? I could see this potentially being an issue for some of our customers. I do run the 2.4 and 5Ghz on separate SSIDs so can just tell them use the 2.4Ghz radio for now.

I'm looking to put some SXT LTEs out into the field. These come with 6.42.x and I appear unable to downgrade them to bugfix (probably due to a lack of hardware support somewhere).
