Re: [Script] Automatically change DNS if Pi-hole is no longer working

Oh wow, this is perfect for me! Im using a local Unbound DNS server for perfomance and like you Ive found the only way to get the Mikrotik to reliably use the local DNS is to set only the one DNS server. Ive been bitten once before by forgetting to change my DNS when doing server maintenance. Nice t...

Re: Using RouterOS to QoS your network - 2020 Edition

Are you sure about marking DNS / ICMP or ACK connections than their packet marks, because what im seeing that when i run speedtest some or sometimes entire bandwidth goes thru this QUEUE(DNS/ICMP/ACK) and as they have top prio actually choke my net. I changed it to only mark packets directly withou...

Re: Using RouterOS to QoS your network - 2020 Edition

I've been thinking about dual-WAN load balancing with this QoS model. The mangle rules will mark all traffic regardless of the interface/direction by default, which simplifies the marking aspect. But how do we apply separate queue trees to WAN1 (up/down) and WAN2 (up/down)? Im a bit green so just t...

PCQ queue on failover WAN interface

My primary WAN is a 250/50 and my failover WAN is only 50/5. This site has about 70 clients. Peak usage usually is about ~100Mbps in the evenings. In a failover scenario, I'd like for PCQ to kick in to smooth out the traffic for the duration it would be in failover. The only way I can think to do th...

Re: CPU Consumption by internet-detect

Im having the same issue on one of my CCR's. I have no idea where it came from. Could it be that pressiing button on top of the interface tab enables this? EDIT: Command above didnt work. This is what I used that allowed me to disable this. interface detect-internet edit detect-interface-list change...

Actually, im a bit confused.

If I understand correctly, this would make things quite complex.

I believe that would mean I would have to QOS and route by protocol.

Would you mind giving an example?
