No, not really but. I have about 60 clients connected to an AP 433ah and 8602+S with 12dbi omni for broadcast. I have 3 120 degree 20 dbi sectors that I will be replacing the omni with. I want to hook up three separate router boards, RB433ah and seneo 8602+S. My question is should I name all of the ...
Seems like you have everything worked out, I ran into similar problems, and asked the forum, they said that the cpu usage is not accurate. I did try something interesting though. If you start with a virgin config and only access to the router board with cat5 and add cpu to the router board display. ...
A simple queue on the client device works fine for us. Seems to be more steady on AP though. I find that the default queues are actually set low. example a 512kbX128kb I usually manually set 512 closer to 600k and 128 to about 190k. Don't know much about bandwidth shaping though.
I want to connect two remote locations with a very secure connection, authentication method. Example= A bank in Houston wants a secure connection with a sister bank in Orlando via the Internet. I want to put a routerboard at one bank and a routerboard at the other bank and securely transfer data wit...
Sergejs, thank you for your reply. Yes everything is the same on the client end and the Access Point. I have altered the default setting in security profiles. I have dynamic keys enabled, WPA PSK, WPA2 PSK are enabled, unicast is set to TKIP and group is set to TKIP, and I have the same security phr...
I have just implemented WPA on our MIkroTik network. Everything went great except for one hotspot I have connected as a client of our main AP. The hotspot is setup as a point to point on one radio card and then an AP on the other wireless card. The users are setup as username and password clients. I...
I wonder why it is even a option to use then. System-resources reflect the exact same output. How can I tell what kind of load my CPU is actually hitting? Is there no measure of this?
Can someone help me with this? I just setup a RB133 board, I loaded the new 3.7 O.S. I enabled the wireless card to make sure that my new equipment works. I add CPU to the (task) bar at the top of the GUI 5%, 14%, then 100% about every 3-4 seconds. I disabled the wireless card to make sure that the ...
I have downloaded netinstall.. I need to hook up serial cable to routerboard.. what are the other steps required to bypass bad passwords etc. and reload OS? I have never done one before. Thanks
I'm more interested in the testing method. I think the only way hoe to test it 100% is to have heavy (many connections max traffic) p2p download: 1) directly to the laptop 2) thought router to the laptop Shouldn't a power router handle 12x 1.5 meg throughput with only one connection from cable modem...
If you have multiple routers with static ip's connected to the same Mikrotik then you are probably running some type of load balancing algorithm? Does the routers have different public ip's assigned to them or do they have private ip's assigned on their ethernets? The Mikrotik clients and back hauls...
yes the cable modems have statics built in to the modem, and they are running half duplex. The interfaces have been manually configured for full and half duplex with no apparent change to the timeouts or the bandwidth issues. Any one have any more ideas?
I have a 12X1.5 meg suddenlink connection using Toshiba cable modem. We have tested the connection speed with a laptop and get our desired speeds. When we hook up a virgin power router with just an IP to communicate with modem on average we get 3-5meg x 1.4. Why the bottle neck? We put a rb532 inste...
Yeah it works fine with new OS, It just sucked because, we had no idea when we were out in the field and had to pack up and couldn't finish the job until we checked the forum.
You were right thanks, one other problem has anyone heard of losing passwords from upgrading the firmware to v2.9.50. I have access through my Dude, but I have no luck trying to access the device by any other means, telnet, mac-tel-winbox,etc
U mm. I accidentally enabled Nstreme on a remote station. I have one DSL connection, and I serve it to a MK AP and one client links to it from about a block and a half down the side walk. I was upgrading the OS (from about 400 miles away), that took a while but, they did come around. I set Ntsreme o...
yeah I have heard of it too
I have downloaded the new version of Winbox. but it doesn't help. I haven't ever had the problem with other boards only RB333
I need to push a 20meg fiber connection about 3 miles point to point. I haven't used N Streme yet. I will probably use 29 db solid dish with RB 532a or RB333 and 8602+S on both sides. Some suggestions?
We have I guess the new Beta version RB333 power P.C router os boards. But when you try to access the new device through Winbox. It says that it cant find Roteros.dll. very annoying. I could only access through Neighbor viewer and possible serial port ( didn't try). I had to set IP to a local IP and...
"extensive data loss" then it's either a flaky signal or there's something nearby interfering. I wasn't aware of that, thanks. And yes lots of linksys in the area etc.
Check for "fake ap" someone might put to spoof your traffic.
Where?, like just do a scan and see if I can see another broadcast with same SSID as mine?
but it seems to do the scan on it's own. I don't think it is loosing connection, just scanning for better signal, notice our main AP always satisfies strongest signal and is chosen.?
This is a screen shot of my logs from my Mikrotik device, its obviosly scanning for best signal but, why? I have played around with (no radar detect) and it didn't seem to change results. I have a lot of devices that do this, is this periodic calibration? Thanks for the help p.s the SSID this device...
I have seen this happen to me. What version O.S do you run. You may hate to hear this but, this sometimes means to me that router board is (flakey), is it new? Will traffic still route?
I am quite sure that rb133c does not have license capabilities to run as AP. Rb133c is designed for client scenario . rb133 does support AP. It can't handle a lot of load, and lacks memory resources. It may work fine with a handful of clients though. Does this help you?
I have two RB153's, I am trying to set up a static route between them using wireless cards with no luck. I have got one as an ap and the other as a station, and have a good connection. One of the routers will have my adsl on it and i want the other one to be able to access it. I have been searching ...
~Routerboard 112 running Sr2, 3Mbit backhaul, 15DBI Omni from comet. WDS+AP mode, 3 Combined AP'S~ Cant wait to see how this works~ Are you using 3 sr cards serving as 3 AP's? I had two XR cards installed in a rb532a and both cards were running at full power, the bus couldn't handle it. I had to swi...
Umm, are you setting Simple Queues on client device on AP? I have found that in my situation, I can get a more precise bandwidth control from AP side rather than client side. I usually have to manually set queues higher than the the default drop down list on Mikrotik O.S. example if I want customer ...
I have upgraded to version 7 on Dude server. I have a directly connected p.c. that is able to access fine. I have another p.c that uses remote connection, works fine. I have device on the network(mikrotik client) same IP block as The Dude server and when it connects to Dude it says(getting stuff) it...
Yes I Do that but no thing do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you tell me about The basic function of this rule ??and how to make sure it works properly It should work, the firewall is correct. The rule is correct. You did it right. The basic function of the rule is to stop access from the MAC of susp...

Well I didn't know what interface your Hot spot, was on wlan1, or named Hotspot. If you have both do same firewall rule on all Wireless interfaces.. It was compromised through wireless interface right?
Try winbox>ip>firewall>add rule>chain=input>in>interface wlan1 or hotspot>advanced>mac of hacker>destination address=your device>action drop......... If this works then reset all passwords on devices, and MAC filter from here on out or User manager or WEP WAP or something.
Main steps for setting up a basic & working hotspot are: Set a working DHCP: - add a pool with the desired IP range for DHCP. - add a dhcp -> network which match the pool settings. - add a dhcp -> server which uses the pool created, and bound to the interface which will host the hotspot. Test DH...
It is fairly simple to run test and see which coverage is best for your location. Just set up as client and go for a drive. Start out from the base of the tower and drive showing signal the whole way. What wattage of cards do you use in AP?
First of all how many clients are registered clients of yours. If you dont have any clients just disable the wireless card. Is this an option? Watch the registration find his MAC address, and make firewall rule to drop connection to that MAC. Let me know I will watch forum.
The PPPoE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet) protocol provides extensive user management, network management and accounting benefits to ISPs and network administrators. Currently PPPoE is used mainly by ISPs to control client connections for xDSL and cable modems as well as plain Ethernet netwo...
cables on tower 150' long PoE's at bottom , tower is grounded to a 200' well cased all the way down. I have crazy Ethernet problems. 1 A.P. on the top and about 8 backhauls on it. All the Ethernet is in one bundle tie wrapped to the leg. I will have intermitted ping times and start to drop packets. ...
That is definitly correct, just make sure you copy your regiseterd users from registration then uncheck default authenticate. Make sure everyone reconnects. I did have one rb532 that this function will not work on, had to change out board.
Must set both devices on either side in alignment mode to work, set one got to other end and listen for the beep to get stronger as signal gets better.
I dont know if this will help your situation. This is what i do. Use defualt authenticate. Say you have 10 clients registered, right click on their registration and copy to access list. Once you have done this uncheck the default authenticate and apply make sure to check registartion and make sure a...
I had a client Mikrotik that would stay associated but, lose service between 7:00 A.M. and come back daily at 9:00a.m. I thought maybe interference at clients location. I moved the client to different location different client, same results cards can do funny things. I am not saying this is your iss...
This may sound stupid but, we recently implemented RIP on all of our Mikrotik AP's and backhauls. We were using all static routing before. Now it seems like our network struggles. Maybe coincedence but, after RIP was installed, we had a backhaul get fried and many other physical problems. Does anyon...
I have some mikrotik boards that I need to change passwords on. I don't have original passwords and can only access through the DUDE. The problem is: these routers are in production and have traffic passing through, I don't want to take down the devices but, despratley need to change passwords. How c...
I am trying to investigate some features on the interface-wireless-advanced page on winbox. Can someone tell me the functions of the following.. Ack-timeout, perodic calibration, and disconnect timeout. I am interested in knowing what these features can do for me. Any suggestions?
Is it a bad idea to run a back haul and an AP on the same router board? The wireless card for back haul is a XR5, the AP is R52H, and Rb532a. Some people believe its better to have two separate dedicated devices. Any suggestions?
What is the easist config for hotspot? I am just trying to set up a simple hotspot for simulation purposes. I believe my main problem is in the pool settings. Can someone help?
I have one AP that I tried this on. I hide the SSID and try and apply the default authentication. I have also saved my clients to an access list. When I try to un check default authentication it will save, but only one or two of my clients will register. I have approximately 12 clients on this AP. I...
How can I block a certain MAC address from connecting to my AP? The MAC connects and disconnects several times a day on several AP's. As far as I can tell this MAC does not belong to our network.
I have a client that is about two miles from AP and has some tree cover in between client and AP. I am using a seneo 8602+ and a 10 db omni for broadcast. The client has a rb133 and r52. I am locked on to the broadcast with a -90 signal. We are the only high speed internet provider in her area. Prob...
This is a log file from Winbox on an AP. I have only one station that should be associated with this AP. The time is off on the logs but this is an ongoing thing. What should I do to try and stop this behavior? Any thoughts?
Very good . I have been trying also to find out how to make the Dude quit discovering certain devices even after I have told it not to. This answers two questions at once.
How can I stop my Dude from discovering a network cloud? I select the discovery tab and uncheck add links and networks, but it still seems to discover these networks and links. My only option at this point is to keep deleting the cloud. This dicovery really clusters my network diagram. Any suggestio...
Thanks Dennis, I met you in Orlando. I found it was easy to find the Google Earth background image I liked, save that image, open with paint and then apply to DUDE background.
I am trying to extend our network using RB532a with 5GHz bachaul and a 2.4ghz broadcast. The links will be about 6 miles from point to point. The towers are 200' and 120' no obstructions. I will be using two 18" 5ghz solid dish for backhaul. And a 18dbi omni for broadcast. Would a XR2 and XR5 b...
I am trying to add a Google Earth backgroung to my Dude. Most bof my network map is already in place. Is there a way to add this background without destroying the network map that is in place?
