The frustrating thing about the installation process is that it never seems to work with usb source devices (floppy or cdrom) and as I am working with a very small form factor pc, the only other option is to rip a desktop pc apart and connect it's floppy cable to the internals of the target pc, whic...

Also tried the version from http://www.mikrotik.com/download/netinstall-2.9.zip, just to be sure, but with the same result.

Time to go home now.

Downloaded http://usa2.mikrotik.com/download/netinstall-2.9.zip and tried again but at "Transfering SYSTEM_2.NPK" or something, it fails with the same error.

If only I could... The Geode board only comes with a 40-pin male connector so I had to buy a 40-pin female disk-on-mod - this is the opposite to a 2.5" hard disk so a normal adapter is the wrong gender and I have no way to mount it!

"FATAL ERROR: no CD-ROM found" during installation

Hi, I've been using RouterOS in a standard PC format for a while now but I've recently bought a mini system based on a Geode GX1-S 300Mhz CPU with 64MB RAM and a 128MB PQI Disk-On-Module. The system is equipped with USB and so for installation of ROS, I connected a USB CD-ROM and configured the BIOS...

you have that in 2.9 already
So does MT 2.9 use a new version of winbox? Does winbox 2.9 work with MT 2.8?

Another useful thing for winbox would be to have either a default monitor display or the ability to save display settings/layouts. As you work with winbox, you move things around and resize them but then when it's configured, you just want to monitor the interfaces and connections - it would be grea...

2ps: WinBox interface semantics directly corresponds to console. We decided to document console, as it keeps the manual smaller and easier to read and navigate. I realise that and it works to an extent but it is very time consuming, particularly using the search functions within Acrobat. For exampl...

Wish List...

Winbox:
1. Name resolution in displays/monitors/lists
2. Context sensitive help or at least a winbox based manual for those of us who don't do cmd line
3. Consistent data rate formats in displays/monitors/lists (not jumping from bps to kbps as the rate changes)

...Set KrakenReport Options to Squid Native and Order by IP Address...
There seem to be several Squid formats...

Squid Common Log Format
Squid Even Log
Squid Guard Log Format
Squid Log Format (Full Headers)

Does MT adhere to any one in particular?

I didn't know that but in any case, I'm already running .NET 1.1.

I'm trying Sawmill in the mean time - not bad for web proxy reporting but I'd also like to find something for firewall analysis.

Web-Proxy

I have only a very basic understanding of the complexities of routing/bridging but have managed to codge together a working bridging firewall for our public ip'd lan (connected to the www via BT ADSL router). However, I'd also like to use the transparent web-proxy but have not managed to make it wor...
