Re: v7.17beta [testing] is released!

Let's talk about the issues the comes with the actual methodology of hardware offload. For example, if the packets are in hardware offload, no IPFIX/Netflow, and no firewall rules(even raw) are possible. ROS supports two different "methodologies" of hardware offload. if you use basic L3HW...

CHR runs fine on FreeBSD no, it doesn't, because the CHR image is not compatible with bhyve -- you need to use the third-party image that jaclaz posted earlier. the stock CHR image won't boot on bhyve and is explicitly documented in the CHR documentation as not supporting bhyve. Re: RouterOS x86, no support for Chelsio T540 VF? [SOLVED]

after poking around "routeros-7.16.1.npk", the problem is apparently that ROS ships the driver for "cxgb4" (the PF device) but not "cxgb4vf" (the VF device). hopefully, this means it's fairly simply for MT to enable the VF driver -- but we'll see what support says.

This is where you might be misunderstanding things. Re: RouterOS x86, no support for Chelsio T540 VF? [SOLVED]

Yep, it’s also up to the host OS drivers to enable SR-IOV support. correct. host OS has SR-IOV enabled, this is working in all virtual machines on this host except for RouterOS VM. The virtual machine can check if SR-IOV is available, but if you try to turn it on without driver support, you’ll just...

No, virtual machines support only a limited set of virtual drivers required for the virtual guest to function properly. The host OS drivers are responsible for managing this support.

"add" will add a new bridge, which isn't what you want since your bridge already exists.

to change the configuration on an existing item, use "set":
/interface/bridge
set 0 vlan-filtering=yes
replace 0 with the appropriate item number, which you can see in "print".

Re: New to Router OS / Trying to setup 3 Vlans on 3011-uias-rm

Use Winbox - Enter into bridges, create 3 bridges: vlanserver, vlanworkstation, vlanmanagement. you only want one bridge, and all VLANs will be created on that bridge. that's important when you want to trunk to another switch with .1q, but it's also the best way to configure things in nearly all ca...

Re: Real benefits of rRB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN ?

But I know I will lost some features: 1. Capsman you can use CAPsMAN on the 4011 to manage its built-in wireless interfaces. just configure the manager normally, then tell the client to connect to 127.0.0.1 (with appropriate firewall rule). 2. 2,4GHz when wave2 is enabled (worst thing) can hAP ac2 ...

Re: NAT64 and DNS64

i opened SUP-79815 for this and the response was: We do not have any plans to add such a feature at the moment, but if more users will request it, we will see how this can be implemented. so, i hope other people interested in NAT64 will also request it. (i also mentioned 464XLAT in my request, so i ...

bridge filter forward rules don't match packet mark

hello, i'm having a problem using packet marks in bridge filter, and i can't tell if this is a bug or if i'm misunderstanding something. this is on v7.2 on a hAP ac2. first, i configured some mangle rules in /ip/firewall/mangle to set packet-marks: /ip firewall mangle add action=set-priority chain=p...

Re: CapsMan bridges vs VLANs? [SOLVED]

What I am trying to understand is there any benefit of implementing VLANs for this purpose? it sounds like you're using CAPsMAN with local-forwarding off, so CAPsMAN is sending all your wireless traffic to a single router, and you control the traffic by having each SSID go to a different bridge on ...

Re: Hardware IPv6 (dedicated thread)

i understand that work on ROS v7 takes priority right now, which is completely reasonable, but even so i'd like to add a vote for hardware IPv6 offloading. i'm considering using some of the L3HW-capable CRSs to upgrade our office network from 1G to 10GE, but all of our internal inter-VLAN traffic (a...

Re: 7.1.1 - CAKE breaks IPv6

i'm also having this problem (raised as SUP-72949) with fq_codel as a simple queue - when the queue is enabled, new IPv6 conntrack rules are not added. has anyone found a workaround?

carrying .1q tagged traffic over WDS/HWMP+ mesh

hello, i've got four hAP ac2 and one RB4011 (non-wireless model), which i'm using to provide both wired and wireless Internet access in a site that has no Ethernet cabling installed. the RB4011 is connected to a VDSL2 modem to provide Internet access. i've set up the hAPs in a single WDS/HWMP+ mesh ...

IPsec mode-config with IPv6 address pool

hello, i'm following this guide to configure ROS 6.46.4 as an IKEv2 responder for road warrior clients: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/IPsec#Road_Warrior_setup_using_IKEv2_with_RSA_authentication but i can't find a way to assign an IPv6 address pool for the initiator addresses: [admin@cr1....

hello, on a router (RB2011, ROS 6.46.3) which has IPv6 Internet access but not IPv4, /system package update check-for-updates fails: [admin@ap-3.lan] /system package update> check-for-updates channel: stable installed-version: 6.46.3 status: ERROR: no internet connection the router does have working...
