Re: firmware v6.39: UserMan duplicate session

Thanks null31.

My forum search did not find anything and the link you give describes my situation exactly.
I guess I should be more attentive to the general firmware version posts.

firmware v6.39: UserMan duplicate session

I am using the Mikrotik User Manager in a couple of small wireless networks to manage PPPoE clients. After the upgrading the firmware on Routerboards acting as Access Concentrators to v6.39, I am seeing duplicate sessions in the UserManager. When the session is terminated for some reason, in additio...

How to Interpret User Profile Status "PAUSED"

I tested what happens with:

profile validity=10m, transfer limitation=10 MB.

If the limitation is reached before the validity expires the profile is 'paused'. After the validity time of 10 minutes expires, the profile changes to 'used'.

How to Interpret User Profile Status "PAUSED"

This is an edit of my original slightly inaccurate post. Form what I can determine: Whether an added profile appears as 'waiting' or 'paused' depends on whether the profile was set - 'Starts: at first logon' or 'Starts: now' (respectively) in the profiles configuration section of the admin account. ...

UM 5.20 download/upload used Kib decimal position

The decimal position when units are 'Kib' seems to be out by a factor of 100 as displayed on the UM web page; or am I mistaken? The uploaded screenshot columns are download used : upload used with a sort applied on downloads. I understand the UM displays a unit change from Kib to Mib at just over 2 ...

Re: DHCP-server>network: domain question

here is the response from Mikrotik support:

It was Winbox issue, DNS domain and Domain are the same settings.
There will only domain in the next RouterOS version.

Re: DHCP-server>network: domain question

hey thanks for the quick and useful reply. I checked the manuals, wiki, forum but could not find any distinguishing info. I also tried setting the two entries individually in Winbox and 'domain setting' seemed to have no obvious effect. I did not consider the idea that the CLI to Winbox setting for ...

DHCP-server>network: domain question

What is the difference between 'DNS Domain' and 'Domain' entries as they appear on the DHCP-server > network WinBox panel?

small network: PPPoE, hotspot - client payments

I have researched this on the forum but am still unclear about on several points. I hope someone can provide some brief guidance. example: small network with 50 permanent clients using CPEs and one hotspot; accounts managed with Mikrotik usermanager. I understand there might be advantages to handlin...

Return URL error

hi The 'return URL' set to the hotspot login page does not seem to work properly for my windows IE, Firefox or Safari; 'page can not be displayed' error or 501/505 error. It does seem to work for UBUNTU Firefox with a 'returning to non-secure page' message. Is there something I have misconfigured? t...

Re: hotspot: OS X browser image loading problem

Going through the process of submitting this question to the forum seems to have clarified my thinking and I believe I may have found the solution to the problem; I will have to do more testing to know for sure. :D The client CPEs were set by default for DNS-relay. We don't have our own DNS server s...

hotspot: OS X browser image loading problem

We have a small wireless network and at least some of the clients using OS X can't load certain pages properly when the hotspot is enabled (example: yahoo, youtube, myspace, etc.); PCs at the same location seem unaffected. Both Safari & Firefox are affected and probably Opera too though I believ...

PPPoE - security issue?

hi

I wondered if someone could provide a few details on what the risk is, given the following statement in the RouterOS manual under 'PPPoE Server Setup':

Security issue: do not assign an IP address to the Interface you will be receiving the PPPoE requests on.

thanks

RB450 as switch

hi

I read a recent post describing how the RB150 can have some ports set to 'switch mode' using the master port setting. Does anyone know if its replacement, the RB450 has this same ability.

Re: Tranzeo 900 / Zcomax 900 Intercompatibility

hi

After seeing your post I thought I would try one of the Zcomax 900 MHz cards in an RB133c. It seemed to work fine as an AP but I can't seem to get it to see anything as a client. I don't know much about all of this; is there some trick to the setup?

thanks
