Re: Hotspot in VPLS

What exactly are you trying to achieve with VPLS? I have the Hotspot interface in a VLAN on the bridge on the core / BNG router with the bridge on the remote CAPs (with CAPsMAn local forwarding) tunneled over VPLS to the hotspot interface bridge on the core / BNG router. You may find these two MUM p...

Re: Terribly slow Wi-Fi speed

Just to add to the answers from @bpwl and @erlinden: (1) from a quick review of your config, I'd suggest you change "local-forwarding=no" from no to yes to eleminate one potential source of the slowing-down problem. Does the CPU load on the CAPSMAN router/controller jump up during the slow...

Re: Unboxing and more - MikroTik hAP ax2

Many thanks for your great unboxing videos, and particularly the English subtitles. Thanks too for the education on the chipset in the AX device. I suppose Mikrotik would use the more pro versions of the chipsets in the upcoming outdoor AX devices. Errmm, but next time use champagne flutes to toast ...

Why people have the urge to rush and try to sound smart, instead of read carefully the post and try to help?
Not trying to sound smart at all, only tryng to help by sharing what has worked in my case. My apologies if it came accros that way. I'd be happy to retract the post, if that would help.

Re: 3x cAP XL best roaming and load balancing scenario

My humble dumbass two cents: If the provider's router is not a Mikrotik and you don't have access to it for configuration changes, I'd suggest you get a Mikrotik router (perhaps either a hEX PoE or a hEX S + a PoE switch if you're a broke cheapo like me) between your internal network currently compr...

Re: Block dynamic ip in dhcp leases (Script)

For added security, you may want to enable "Add ARP for Leases" for the DHCP server and the interface ARP setting to "reply-only".

Re: Login post not sent

Yes, I guessed that this was the cause of the error, but I don't think it solves the problem if I simply use https instead of http. Does the ajax endpoint have to set a certificate before? Well, obviously HTTPS requires an SSL certificate. My assumption was that you had a valid CA-issued certificat...

I need an advice for which wireless devices to use for Public hotspot wifi for phones, that as much coverage as possible, approximately 500 clients will be connected, and each client will use 2Mbit/s, I'm planning to use mainly 2.4Ghz devices Just off the top of my head, a couple of pointers you’d ...

Re: Hotspot - Unable to send e-mail MS Exchange

Thanks for the pointers guys, unfortunately the problem was somewhere else.. Great you've solved it! If I may add, from my previous previous life as an e-mail sys admin, we found MS Exchange to be very chatty and didn't work too well over slow links. It would work great over LAN links if the client...

Re: wAP ac LTE / wAP ac LTE6 kit / hAP ac³ LTE6 kit / supported WiFi Clients [SOLVED]

The max-station-count setting (Maximum number of associated clients.) of 2007 for a WiFi interface must be a theoretical limit. See this 2013 response from Janisk, Mikrotik Support, to a similar question on the forum: max-station-count is one thing, another is - how many clients can connect, and AP ...

CAPsMAN on RouterOS 6.4x working well for me for two+ years now with four different types of Mikrotik APs after my initial challenges setting it up. Once you get the hang of it, it's somewhat smooth sailing. I haven't been brave enough to try it on RouterOS 7.x, yet, though. My tips from my little e...

Re: PTP 802.11ac / nv 80mhz real-life speed

However nv2 will just ignore that, as it is not a "clear-channel-listener waiting it's chances before talking". nv2 will just talk (at least that is what I read about nv2 [*]) , and will have to cope with interference, but that should be no problem with those low levels. [*] from the wiki...

Finally, better antennas + reflectors: exactly what I had been cracking my head on how to mod a cAP AC to be. Looking forward to a wAP AC XL too with similar 'internals' and antenna reflectors to focusing send/receive signals forward (not omni!) for when one installs them on building walls. I'll hol...

Check if the RouterBoard 'Current firmware' matches the RouterOS version on the access point(s). The wireless connection on two APs became terribly unstable after a recent RouterOS upgrade I did to the latest version. The connection stability improved after I upgraded the firmware as well. I'm in a similar dilemma finding a capable outdoor Wi-Fi AP and fearful of the potential waterproofing damage long-term from having the top cover off a Netmetal or a Basebox to mount antennas. It may be simpler to consider the wAP R ac based LTE/4G access points for your outdoor application (this is...
