I have the same problem on mine, and I have just gotten intel 10gb sfp+ but the idea that it is heat has made me get a platform fan to place underneath it.
But I have tried like 3 or 4 models of SFP+ and finally picking supported ones.

What finally did it was the intervening CRS309 had the vlans but the switch chip needed to be tagged on the ports for it to pass the offer back.
