Re: mDNS equivalent using PIM

It's not possible. mDNS is a link-local multicast protocol and therefore cannot be routed by design. The only workaround is to broadcast it into another network segment using a repeater or similar.

Re: Configuring Subnet of WAN IPs for NAT

The first thing about using multiple IPs on single interface is answer to the question: how does link peer (i.e. ISP router) deliver packets using those IP addresses?

Good point, I took the liberty of assuming the subnet was routed to OP by the peer (ISP).

Re: Configuring Subnet of WAN IPs for NAT

Couple options here: You could use netmap similar to this: https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=107311 You're just using the Public addresses routed to your service in place of local IPs. Alternatively you could set your router up as the gateway of a DHCP server in the Public IP subnet (of whi...

Re: How to add IP automatically to Address List? [SOLVED]

There is many ways to achieve this, to determine the best, please let me know how the router is learning about the IP address that you wish to add to the address list. Is the router handing it out to the device as a DHCP lease?

Your setup sounds correct, therefore there must be some other unmentioned config interfering in IP connectivity between your phone subnet and chromecast subnet.

Please do /export hide-sensitive file-anynameyouwish and post the config here.

In the following, you've put "name-vlan30", it should be "name=vlan30". The terminal will make you aware of syntax errors as you enter commands, please pay attention to these. You can learn more here: https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/Command+Line+Interface [admin@MikroT...

Manually upgrading the firmware is the easiest solution, however if you want to work out where along the line your connection to Mikrotik's servers is being blocked, run a traceroute.

I've installed countless Mikrotik routers using VDSL modems for nothing more than modulation and hardware bridging. Can you specify: - The make and model of the modem you are using - How you have configured the bridging - How the ISP is terminating the connection i.e. PPPoE, IPoE, DHCP - What Mikrot...

I wouldn't advice to anyone to use upnp. It is easy and it works but it opens security holes into otherwise safe network.

Agreed. Find out what ports are needed and setup the NAT as necessary.

Allowing devices to open whatever they like wherever they like is asking for trouble.

Re: Have another WAN as a backup

No need to use scripting for this, WAN failover can be handled using route distance. If your WAN is currently injecting a default route into your table - disable this and add a static default route for each WAN using it's IP as the gateway. Increment the routes depending on which is primary, seconda...

Although not immediately apparent, you can enable and disable the multicast querier setting on your bridge interface using the following:
