Re: NTP server on Mikrotik router [SOLVED]

The ancient RB333 can handle about 580 NTP requests per second. That should be good enough for a local network. On a newer RB it might be few thousands and on x86-64 it would probably be at least few tens of thousands.

Re: NTP Server and Client Standard on v7?

The ntp package on older ROS versions was definitely ntpd, but the NTP client/server on ROS 7 has a different behavior. I guess they wanted to get rid of ntpd, but wanted to keep the multicast, manycast and broadcast support, so they had to write their own thing.

Permanent read access on USB flash drive @RB750Gr3 (hEX)?!

Hello! Some time again I started to recognise a strange behaviour: An USB flash drive attached to my hEX is accessed very often! Not the disk itself, but the USB device. But why? When I open the Mikrotik app and navigate to the disk list it sometimes stops for a while ... In general it does not make...

Re: v7.1.2 is released!

I sacrificed one RB333 and it's not good. After upgrade from 6.49.2 it fails to boot with same "kernel out of range" as yours. It can be fixed by upgrading firmware as described in v7.1beta4 on RB600A thread (RB333 is mpc8323; I used upgrade over serial port, since the board was already b...

Re: v7.1.2 is released!

Was anyone able to get 7.1 working on a ppc routerboard? I tried 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 on RB333 and the boot failed with "kernel out of range". Even the netinstall is broken, it gets stuck on "waiting for installation server". Is 64MB of RAM not enough for the new version?

kill immediately and block ip/mac

From winbox and command line I would like to kill all active connections to an ip/mac, or list of ips/macs and block them. I have setup using this guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44f_SidI3Bs&app=desktop. But it does not stop active connections for example in facebook messenger instantly. T...
