Re: How to limit a specific IP address to 2 hours per day?

Check the settings under "IP->kid control", put settings like the above to keep stats on all local devices using internet. Now you can look in the "devices" tab of that page and see all your devices and how much data they consume. You can even make them "static" and as...

Re: How to limit a specific IP address to 2 hours per day?

As mentioned already, hotspot functionality should do it. macauth + radius "daily session time". I am writing "should do it", because standard MT hotspots are not so advanced like coova-chilli hotspots, running on openwrt. Can you please explain in further detail? This is a wire...

Re: How to limit a specific IP address to 2 hours per day?

A variation on @pe1chl model that more closely reflects the OP's need to check for "consumed time" could be to check the devices for traffic with a 1 minute interval using "kid-control" and a script which @rextended probably already has up in his sleeves. Activate a monitor: &qu...

Re: How to limit a specific IP address to 2 hours per day?

I don't think it has to be extremely accurate to the minute, and nowadays with all the parasitic traffic, it's obvious that the device has to be completely turned off, otherwise the count continues even if it's not being used by the user (but the device it using itself) ... A DHCP lease with expire...

Re: How to limit a specific IP address to 2 hours per day?

Would this be easier to do if it was the MAC address of the device being limited to 2 hours per day? Sorry for all the questions, I just feel there must be a way to do this!

Re: How to limit a specific IP address to 2 hours per day?

Kid Control only allows for certain hours per day (noon to 2, etc) as opposed to 2 hours of general usage. I am trying to limit access to 2 hours regardless of when that access starts. That will always be difficult, because you will not be able to tell the difference between "device is actuall...

Re: How to limit a specific IP address to 2 hours per day?

ChatGPT is just a means of entertainment , you have to believe in what it tells you, so it writes it and invents it in a plausible way. Is like watching a science fiction film, it must be at least plausible, but then in reality everything is not always possible... Can't you see it's all bullshit? A...

Re: How to limit a specific IP address to 2 hours per day?

I have "asked" both Google Bard and ChatGPT but the suggestions they provide don't work. " Pay someone to monitor users. " Fantasy Novels don't work in real life... You would be shocked at what they came back with actually. They provided very detailed ways to use command line an...

How to limit a specific IP address to 2 hours per day?

I am looking to limit a specific internal IP address of my router to 2 hours of access per day. I have "asked" both Google Bard and ChatGPT but the suggestions they provide don't work. I figured the experts here might know how to set this up in a router running v6.48.2 (stable).

How to determine data usage

Is there an easy way to figure out how much data my network uses each month? My ISP claims we have no caps, and I haven't experienced any issues, however I am considering switching ISP's and I want to do some research to determine if they would throttle based on my usage. I have a Hex S router if th...

Re: How to view devices hardwired to the router by IP address? [SOLVED]

Believe this is what you’re looking for? In WinBox, go to IP then DHCP server then leases. That will show anything connected via DHCP. Excellent, this is exactly what I was looking for! Interestingly it also shows the list of all devices connected to the AP's, not just those connected (wired) to th...

How to view devices hardwired to the router by IP address? [SOLVED]

I had previously asked a question about finding wireless devices on the network, which was solved, and now I am trying to get a list of the devices physically connected to the router, as well as the IP address assigned to each. I can't see to find this in the settings of my router. Can someone point...

How to view client list? [SOLVED]

I have two AP's connected to my Hex S, and I can't see to figure out how to see a list of all the connected clients. I can mostly figure it out using an application like Fing, however the results aren't always 100% correct and can lead to confusion when trying to determine the IP address of a partic...

Re: New to Mikrotik

Could you elaborate a bit more what isaues do you experience with bufferfloat? I am not experiencing any notable issues at the moment, but I am looking to avoid latency that would interfere with time sensitive/real time traffic (voice, video, etc). I found the below article, one of many, describing...

Re: New to Mikrotik

1. At the moment, Kid control only does what you saw 2. Any reasoning behind this? With queues you can do that, but this is another CPU process and I don't understand why you want to do this 1. Thank you 2. My understanding is that this will provide better performance on my network by eliminating t...

Re: New to Mikrotik

Everything is setup using the default config, and working great. I am now looking to dig in a little deeper and start making some changes, which I hope you all can assist with. 1) I see there is a "kid control" section, which sounds good. However, it only appears to allow you to block off ...

Re: New to Mikrotik

My advice is to not use quickset and to leave the default firewall rules (and most of the config) alone until you understand what the default config is doing for you and why. In MT, very little is automated in that the admin has to tell the router what to do with the packets flying around. The defa...

Re: New to Mikrotik

When it comes out of the box, there is a standard configuration on the device. Port 1 is the WAN port, the rest LAN. Port 1 is also a DHCP client. A default firewall is present. Don’t forget to setup the admin password. The little leaflet in the box should get you going. Look on the MikroTik channe...

New to Mikrotik

Hello everyone. This is my first time here, and my first time purchasing or using a Mikrotik (Hex S). The device just arrived and I have been reading about it, and watching youtube, and there is a lot of conflicting information floating around! Some say that you must configure all the settings prior...
