Re: CAP AX - problem with setting

So there is CAPsMAN that works with legacy WiFi drivers and then there is CAPsMAN that works with new wifiwave2 drivers that are in all new ax devices. There is no way of installing legacy drivers to ax devices nor legacy capsman can work with new one and vice versa. Your current CAPs don't support...

Re: CAP AX - problem with setting

In that case I will try to netinstall new ROS and then tried reset button method again, without quick set.
OK, will try now. Thank you.
Cool, that solved the first problem - instead of Home AP Dual I have now Ethernet mode, where I can choose Bridge mode instead of router.

Re: CAP AX - problem with setting

Be aware that there are two CAPsMAN versions, one for the older devices and one for Wifiwave2 compatible devices. You won't be able to combine the two. That is confusing now... I thought that there may be an issue between v7 and v6 but... at this moment I have main router with v7 and had all CAPs w...

Re: CAP AX - problem with setting

Disconnect power from cAP ax, press and hold reset button, connect power again and wait until LED became solid green then release the button. Now cAP ax should be in CAP mode. No other configuration is required on device. That's the way i configured my 2 cAP ax's and any other device that needs to ...

Re: CAP AX - problem with setting

Hi, Yes, that`s correct, but... I have already CAPsMAN - it`s my main router CCR2116-12G-4S+ I just want to add CAP AX as another CAP to my network, but cannot change it to CAP in quick set. CAP is enabled, Screenshot 2023-10-06 082836.png Having it as Home AP Dual creates issue as... it connects to...

Re: CAP AX - problem with setting

Thank you for your respond, at least I know that it`s nothing wrong only with my device. I have previously activated CAP in the GUI but I couldn't change in the quick settings mode to CAP and it was still "Home AP Dual". I will have a look at CLI in the free time and will try to see if the...

Re: CAP AX - problem with setting

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

What do you mean by "for now" - is it the issue with OS 7 or with this particular model that it`s not ready yet?
I`m not confident with CLI, therefore I could wait if there is any idea when it will be in the soon future.

Regards,
Nicholas

CAP AX - problem with setting

Dear all, I have purchased CAP AX and I cannot configure that in my network. I have many RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT and other older CAPs, where I can simply set the CAP in the winbox ( Quick Set, left top corner ) or reset the device during boot ( 10 seconds ), but in CAP AX none of those options works - i...

CAPSMAN - multiple SSID issues after upgrade from v6.49 to v7.7

Dear all, I have the issue with CAPSMAN after upgrading from v.6.49 to v7.7 ( upgraded routers to CCR2116-12G-4S+, majority of CAPs are rb962uIgs-5hACt2hNt - all manually configured from scratch, I didn't import the configuration ) I used to have the master CAP with SSID "X" and two slave ...

Re: PPP - PPTP brute force attack

Cool. I have tried to block attacks over PPTP but couldn't manage to do so, so this way I have listened to you and I have disabled PPTP service. I have tested L2TP/Isec, it works fine and I`ll implement that for my Road Warriors at this stage, however, I will look closer to WireGuard once I will hav...

Re: Upgrade RB1100AH to... ?

ccr2004-16g-2s+ looks sweet, I think that three of them will do a job in three of my sites. One site is small, but the price of this router is low, so cannot see a reason for not buying one, OK, only if it will be available. Configuring the whole router from the scratch makes me cry ;) So I assume t...

Re: PPP - PPTP brute force attack

Right, got your points guys. Thank you for yours advice. At this moment, before I will upgrade to a newer router I will stay with ROS6 and L2TP/Isec - I have implemented that, it works and I just need to test it few days. But, as I had the issues with brute force attack on PPTP than I will keep havi...

Re: PPP - PPTP brute force attack

Since you already use the device for PPTP-access, it should be fairly easy to setup wireguard and have your clients connect using that protocol. Windows / Mac / Android / iPhone/ ... all have client tools available to make that happen. But it requires that you upgrade your device to ROS7 which migh...

Re: PPP - PPTP brute force attack

If you have known IP ranges from were your PTPP users are connecting, you can improve the situation a little bit by restricting source IPs of PPTP clients. I should be able to restrict it via IP range, but if you say than it`s not secure anyway than I would rather try another available service that...

PPP - PPTP brute force attack

Hi guys, I`m having issues with Brute Force Attack on the PPTP. I`m using the unique names and rather solid password for few of my users, so I should not worry too much, but in the logs , I can see at least authentication failures in topic pptp / ppp / error with various user logins. Any chance you ...

Re: Upgrade RB1100AH to... ?

Well, I`m running devices with default CPU frequency. I wouldn't try overclocking CPU that is already in use for quiet few years - I really prefer to upgrade to a newer model, especially that I need to connect new site within next few months so I will need to purchase new devices. However, where pos...

Upgrade RB1100AH to... ?

Hi folks, Could you help me choosing the right equipment for my network? Currently I have two sites based on Mikrotik devices Site 1 - Main - ISP 1Gbit/s - main router RB1100AH - CAPs RBcAPGi-5acD2nD and RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT - 4x 48P 1Gbit/s switches (D-Link ) + 1 x 24P 1Gbit/s switches (D-Link ) - a...

Better security can be afforded by a better understanding. (1) Therefore, via winbox, go to IP Menu Item and select IP SERVICES. Here you can disable all the services the router provides users or access to the router for api, api-ssi, ftp, ssh, telnet, www, www-ssl. THE ONLY ONE YOU SHOULD KEEP ACTIVE...

RB1100AH - Blocked ports [SOLVED]

Hi there, I have blocked the ports on my RB1100AH and... I cannot access my router now. I know, it does sound stupid. I was sure that it will stop access to the router from WAN (I had many attacks), but now I cannot access it locally by myself... what to say, I`m stuck with it. I have closed those p...
