Re: How to set config and keep bgp peer connection?

Hi phil, Setting the new filter via the command line doesn't seem to impact the peer's state (for me on v5.26 anyway). ~Matthew [admin@edge2] /routing bgp peer> print Flags: X - disabled, E - established # INSTANCE REMOTE-ADDRESS REMOTE-AS 0 E default 192.168.228.101 64515 1 E default 192.168.228.13...

Re: Issue with gateways and BGP with 2 ISP's

Hi David, You can probably pull this off using a prerouting firewall mangle rule with a separate routing mark for your /25 and /26. Assuming your AT&T networks are: 172.16.16.0/25 and 172.16.17.0/26, the AT&T gateway is 12.122.125.224, and your AT&T interface is 12.122.125.225... somethi...

Re: BGP is working - can't ping out

In your MikroTik router, go into ip routes and do a search where your dst-address is 4.0.0.0/9 (your 4.2.2.2 test). If your "Gateway" (next hop) isn't your core router-- you need to enable "nexthop-choice=force-self" on your core router's peer configuration for your MikroTik. If ...

Re: Mikrotik BGP Protocol configuration

Greetings, The cleanest way to accomplish this is using BGP Local Pref. You can set local pref using a routing filter on the way in from each ISP. (make your preferred connection have a local pref of 80, and your backup connection have a local pref of 70). I'm assuming you're only receiving a handfu...

Re: Two BGP sessions, do not wish to re-announce

Greetings, Here's an example. Provided your ASN is 64585, your network is 198.18.0.0/15, and your ISP's ASN is 65534. Below is a (modified) copy of what I use for inbound/outbound IPv4 configuration for public upstreams. I should also note that I also don't re-distribute anything (static or other ro...

Re: BGP w/ Cogent

I'll be turning up both full IPv4 and IPv6 sessions on an RB1100 with Cogent next week. If it goes well, I'll post the finished configs here for ya.

Re: GRE tunnel from RB750 to VPS --- FAST connection, But

I suspect if you adjusted the MTU/MSS on both sides of your PPTP you might have better luck with it. And you wouldn't have to fiddle with IPs on both sides...but just have your local side connect back to the VPS with the static IP. The default of 1460 doesn't take into account PPPoE overhead...so yo...

Re: SIP via NAT

Unfortunately, I have yet to see any kind of router-based SIP helper work 100% correctly. Unless it's actually acting as some kind of Proxy, rather than trying to modify the SIP packets on the fly. I would actually suggest: -Disable the SIP protocol in the firewall all together. -Let the SIP server ...

Re: Memory Leak with BGP?

I'd also be curious to see where we currently stand with other folks taking on at least 2 IPv4 + IPv6 routing tables on the current release (5.4). I was nearly ready to pull the trigger on a new pair of RouterOS devices for our BGP routers, but if memory's not being released during the course of nor...

GPS NTP Stratum (6 vs. 2)

I am curious if anyone knows why when the time is set via GPS (using a serial connection), the stratum reported by the NTP server is 6. (I would presume if we're getting our time from a stratum 1 source such as GPS, it would be serving out stratum 2 time).
