Re: Add custom tool for routerboard upgrade

I think I get what your saying. Essentially, the Routerboard firmware as listed by CLI output is actually a BIOS flash that is rarely required since the contents of the firmware doesn't change often, even though the version numbers change to keep pace with the RouterOS version. Re: Add custom tool for routerboard upgrade

Manual:The Dude v6/Tools - command will be executed on the Dude client OS, bot on the Dude server. We probably can use an example from the wiki plink.exe -ssh [Device.UserName]@[Device.FirstAddress] -P 22 -pw [Device.Password] "/system routerboard upgrade" Thanks for the response. This is...

Add custom tool for routerboard upgrade

I'm new to using Dude. I'm trying to add a tool to upgrade the Routerboard after an OS upgrade by adding a Tool. This command runs successfully as a script on a router, but if I try to use it as a Tool in Dude, it fails. What's the correct way to easily run a command like this? Thanks in advance for...

Re: Question to our users about controllers

1) Are you interested in a central controller for MikroTik devices? If yes: b ) manage all configuration of these MikroTik devices 2) How would you like to run it? Router package would be ideal, but self hosted *nix would work too. 3) What features would you like to see mostly? (mass auto-upgrade, c...

Re: [FEATURE REQUEST] - NMAP

I realize this is an old thread, but nmap is extremely helpful when troubleshooting connectivity issues. A basic port scanner would be really great to have on the Mikrotik routers.

Re: How to make local IPs prefered over BGP routes

The guide linked in the previous post is very useful and I recommend reading it. In a nutshell this seems to be the issue: 10.0.0.0/24 is more specific than 10.0.0.0/16 so traffic needing to to go to 10.0.0.0/24 will take the route advertised via BGP rather than the connected route. To resolve the i...

Re: OSPF, Wireguard, and multiple path problem [SOLVED]

This issue has been resolved. :D :D As is sometimes the case, the apparent problem wasn't really the issue. I'll be brief, but I hope this can help somebody else in the future. The design requires that sites 1-3 from the original diagram are able to access the public internet without first going th...

Re: OSPF, Wireguard, and multiple path problem [SOLVED]

@wiseroute Thank you for taking the time writing up those labs. I've been out of the office and putting out fires (figuratively) for several weeks. Now I'm finally coming back around to this problem. Apologies for the lack of communication. You are understanding the topology, direction of data flow,...

Re: OSPF, Wireguard, and multiple path problem [SOLVED]

It was worth trying but lowering and/or removing keep alive times on the Wireguard peers didn't make any difference. I've also tried via firewall rules to explicitly drop traffic from/to a wireguard network from using a non-wireguard interface. I had hoped this would cause the ospf neighbors to drop...

Re: OSPF, Wireguard, and multiple path problem [SOLVED]

Hi Wiseroute, Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried removing the keep alive value completely, but that causes the sessions to drop completely. I will try a few settings in between to see if that remedies the problem. The network described in this post is a lab network so I can experiment without ...

OSPF, Wireguard, and multiple path problem [SOLVED]

Problem description: Three remote sites are connected to Main office. Site1 and site3 connect to the Main Office via Wireguard. Site2 connects to Site1 and Site3 via radio links and has no direct link to the public internet. This is a ring topology in a remote area; multiple pathways to/from site ar...

Re: WebFig does not display all routes

FWIW, I've adapted to using CLI or Winbox to view routes. Both seem to be more trustworthy than the webfig for presenting data and are IMO, better for config work as well.

Re: Feature Request: RFC3021 /31 point-to-point support in v7

I'm running 7.4.1 on a pair of routers and they can communicate via a /31 network, however OSPF will not function over the /31. The routers are caught in ExStart and never move on. If I switch to a /30 network, OSPF works immediately, thus ruling out other issues. I'm aware of the suggested /32 work...

unknown interface in log events [SOLVED]

I'm getting these info entries in my router logs and I am able to suppress them by not logging info events. The events are related to l2tp/IPsec tunnels which are working properly as are the OSPF routes that rely on them. I'm not understanding why the output interface is unknown. Perhaps because the...

Re: Load Balancing over 2 VPN Tunnels

If you're using OSPF, you should be able to use the same cost for each route to balance the traffic (ECMP). It's in the OSPF docs: https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/OSPF

Re: Client L2TP/LNS rechable only from PPPoe Server

I'm encountering a similar issue. I have a core network with five routers (v7.x) connected to five remote sites via Wireguard and/or L2TPipsec. OSPF is functioning just fine for this part of the system. The problem occurs when we use a VPN client to connect to the network for management. The Core ro...

Re: WebFig does not display all routes

Still an issue with v7.2.3 apparently. It's effecting an RB3011 UiAS-RM and Hex-s router in my test lab.

FWIW, issue not present on CR109 or CCR2004 routers that I have seen.

OSPF and default routes

Diagram1.png I'm having an issue with default routes not failing back properly regardless of how the distance is weighted. This problem seems similar to two other posts, but it's not exactly the same issue as far as I can tell. There are three routers in OSPF area 0 (see pic). Default routes are re...
