Re: Container Support to MIPS Architeture

[...] Had you access to some information about mikrotik no using MIPS never more? Quite the opposite: both of the big 100G devices MikroTik has recently introduced are MIPS-based. They're classed as switches (CRS) rather than routers, though, so CPU performance never was their major focus. I think ...

Re: All Hex ports full routing capability?

I would still use the device's block diagram. Many do have just two routing interfaces plus an internal switch. Sometimes the internal switch is more capable, and you can have soft routing (where every routing decision is handled by the CPU).

Re: CRS3xx-series -IN/desktop model?

Yeah, no real POE options in that density, even though they do make the boards for it (netpower16 is a CRS3xx with 16 RJ45 POE PD). Strange part about the non-rack variant of the CRS326, it seems to be lacking any ability to put rackmount ears onto it. I'm not looking to mount it in a rack, but it a...

Re: Unboxing and more - MikroTik CCR2116 & CCR2216

Never understood tech channels on youtube with English title, English description and alien language. There was a while when YT would automatically translate some of that (especially titles) to english. I don't know if they stopped doing that. I also don't know if that is the case with this channel.

Re: Bonding useless on Mikrotik CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS?

This CCR2004 has no hardware-switch chip, so all L2-Features have to be CPU-emulated. It seems this is the best the CPUs can do. In the test-results (https://mikrotik.com/product/ccr2004_1g_12s_2xs#fndtn-testresults), 25 Firewall-Filter-Rules will also decrease the througput to ~4,5GBit. But as of ...

Re: Unable to get routing on multi VRF setup working, routes marked as inactive [SOLVED]

Ok, I did some more testing and that is exactly the issue. If you enable hardware offloading, it breaks VRF completely. I was able to reproduce this behavior disabling and enabling the feature. If enabled, all VRFs will utilize the last configured routes you have in your routing tables. If disabled...

8-16 port switch - that would put Mikrotik right in the nose of extremely high end switches i love MikroTik but we have to look at the big picture, i think we are very far from high end, in high end we are seing about 32 x 100g in 1 rack unit in a standalone switch, in modular chassis there are 32 ...

I know on my cap ac, using it as a pure Access Point was a bit frustrating at first, since the device tries to operate in a "router" mode, and the quick webfigs didn't make things any better. The default settings (or whatever I clicked around with in webfig/quickWebfig) almost always made ...

Re: Which RouterBoards/routers have USB3-compatible mPCIe slots? (If any)

AFAIK, no official mPCIe spec includes USB 3.0. For USB 3.0 speeds (now called USB 3.2 gen 1, 5Gbps), it's electrically similar to PCIe 2.0 in some aspects, so I suspect most would have just used PCIe unless there were good reasons not to.

They are dual core. RoS 6 could only see one of them, so they were sold as single core - but RoS 7 can see (and use) both of them.
That would be somewhat strange, though I wonder if other 3236 devices are affected - CRS305 and various CRS328 devices?

Capac6E :-))))))
With that name, maybe they can one-up Ubi and only have ax on the 6GHz band, leaving 2.4GHz on n and 5GHz on a subset of ac wave 2 features (first two Unifi 6 products had ax only on 5GHz, with a much older radio for 2.4GHz). :)

Also depends on what you want to do with it. Are you talking about linerate routing across all 24 ports? Or a router that only has to NAT/Firewall/DNS for a single 1Gbps uplink, and everything else is just switched behind the NAT? CRS3xx could do the latter (moreso in V7, if setup properly). Linerat...

In that case, my fanless setup is: CRS309 (8 x SFP+, 1 x GbE RJ45) CSS610 (2 x SFP+, 8 x GbE RJ45) Connected via a single SFP+ <--> SFP+ connection. One could use a SFP+ DAC instead.
