Re: I cant solve bufferbloat issue with my hap ac2 router.

docsis 3.0 connection What model of modem are you using? Check what chipset it uses. I have read mixed accounts of whether the puma 6 issues were actually solved or not. It might be worth trying a different modem. And if you haven't explored this already-- it may also be a signaling issue between y...

Re: MikroTik & Google Pixel 6A tethering

I have updated to ROS 7.12 and the issue was resolved. Thank you! This inspired me to check this out again for my Pixel 6 and I got it working today. As I recall, I previously had nothing showing up as an LTE interface for my Pixel 6, but a Samsung S22+ would work. Mikrotik must have added support ...

Re: VLAN Setup - Did I do this right?

Got it. I will probably just keep it if that's recommended and not hurting anything obviously.

That seems to be the best way for me to wrap my brain around what the vlans are doing anyway- to have that in one place. Then using it for the other setting where needed.

Re: VLAN Setup - Did I do this right?

So the thinking is that I don't need to specify the untagged ports under Bridge, VLANs... Because it is being taken care of when I specify the pvid and frame types in Bridge, Ports? I can see how omitting that would create less confusion when adjusting in the future. I was definitely looking at both...

VLAN Setup - Did I do this right?

I'm hoping to get some help with making sure I have everything set up right. I read through many posts, and the greatly cited user articles about vlans and firewall rules to get this going. I believe I have things behaving the way I need, but please help me with anything I have missed or should chan...

Re: New DHCP configuration

Spicy in here... More https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:I ... er#General is unclear what the default for "conflict-detection=" - thus my slight concern. I think it's =yes however. You appear to be correct. I found in the newer documentation that the default for conflict detection is ye...

Re: New DHCP configuration

The first two suggestions to fix worked for me. Thank you! Interesting on the IP pool comment as well. What I noticed in messing with that previously was that routerOS will try to simplify whatever ranges I put there into the prefix notation if it can. So I started just using that myself. I suppose ...

I don't mean to take over the thread from Topnikko, but here's mine: # model = RB760iGS # serial number = ### /interface bridge add admin-mac=18:FD:74:08:07:55 auto-mac=no comment=defconf name=bridge /interface ethernet set [ find default-name=ether5 ] poe-out=off /interface list add comment=defconf...

Re: New DHCP configuration

Go to Interfaces, then the Interface list tab. You can add ether5 and specify the LAN list. I'm not sure if there are any additional steps needed, though. I'm doing something very similar right now, and have dhcp working. But also cannot access the Internet from my new subnet despite adding my port ...

Re: US product availability crunch increasing in scope...

I had good luck with Pace International recently. Turned out they had stock of what I wanted, while Baltic pushed out availability from April, to May, then September. Newer items like the 5009 as mentioned are still backordered, but they do seem to have stock of some things.

Re: Powering hEX S by POE

It does say passive in the user manual: https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/UM/hEX+S#heading-Powering The first Ethernet port accepts passive or 802.3af/at Power over Ethernet in the range of DC ⎓ 12-57 V. Also stated this way in the brochure, and directly on the enclosure. Either way, I guess in...

Re: Powering hEX S by POE

Is the passive POE specified in the user manual (and printed on the case) not really supported? Even if it is, it could just be that the particular one I have is not really compatible. I take it there's nothing to adjust in RouterOS to try to get things to cooperate? I may pick up an 802.3af injecto...

Powering hEX S by POE

I've got a hEX S up and running on my network, and I've been trying to sort out the option of powering it by the 48V POE injector that I already had. I carefully checked that the POE injector does carry the voltage on the same pairs as Mikrotik is expecting, voltage within spec. Here's what happens:...

Re: New to Mikrotik - Hex S or something else?

tangent: thanks for all this info. Reading through, I think I am looking at the right level of hardware. It seems like I'll be pretty happy for a while with keeping the hEX S I have coming. Looking at the switch chip feature page, I for some reason thought that the hEX S switching was brought more u...

Re: New to Mikrotik - Hex S or something else?

Hey everyone, thanks for all the input. I'll try to answer some of the points brought up-- Great explanation of what to look for in the test results. I think I had found similar in a video or other writeup a while back, and figured the hEX S would be plenty powerful for my current needs. Something t...

New to Mikrotik - Hex S or something else?

I'm looking to get into Mikrotik to replace my router. I've got a Hex S on order, but am wondering if I chose the right board? I can still order something else if needed. I have a 100 mbps down / 5 up connection, and I don't think I would be upgrading to anything beyond about 500 mbps any time soon....
