Re: v7.16 [stable] is released!

DNS :resolve command is not working as intended. In ROS 7.15.3, DNS resolution works correctly and queries DNS server: :resolve "www.google.com" server=<DNS server> In ROS 7.16, DNS resolution uses the cache and does not seem to query server (10.9.91.200 does not exist in test LAN): :put [...

Re: v7.15.1 [stable] is released!

Could we get more documentation/information on the QoS at the switch chip level? For my use-case, I would like to modify the PCP and DSCP values of some packets by taking advantage of a new 7.15 feature. I would also like to keep the existing PCP/DSCP values and for that, will using using trust-l2=k...

Re: QoS Hardware Offloading (QoS-HW)

Hello, I’m using a CRS305 to mark PCP=6/DSCP=CS6 as required by my ISP (Orange France). For reference, an ONT is connected to a CRS305 which is then connected to a CCR2004. The CRS305 is only present to change PCP/DSCP values. At the moment DHCPv4/6and ARP packets are marked on the CRS305, and the o...

Just tested it with my home setup. 3 different VLANs and it works perfectly. I got rid of a small VM running Avahi to do the same thing.

Using CAKE queues (as an Interface Queue or Queue Trees) on a CCR2004-16G-2S-PC results in a router crash when saturating a link.

Re: SQM - using FQ-CODEL in interface queues and fasttrack

From my understanding, FQ-CODEL should reduce bufferbloat even at line rate ( https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?p=911225&hilit=for+isps%3A+Motivations#p907244 ). However, it seems that even on ROS 7.14rc1 this is not the case ( https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?p=911225&hilit=f...

SQM - using FQ-CODEL in interface queues and fasttrack

Hello, I'd like to clarify if Interface Queues and FastTrack are compatible with each other? I've been testing traffic between hosts connected to ether1 and ether3 (see conf below). Fasttrack byte counters go up (expected), and I would like to know if FQ-CODEL is working on this setup. /queue type a...

Re: v7.13 [stable] is released!

So there was no output between the last prompt of the previous run and this? They told me to logon to the router (username and password), maybe it only shows the panic output when logged on. But it may well be that it does not provide output at all when the cause is the watchdog (but only in case o...

I'm seeing random router reboots (a CCR2004-16G-2S+) with this ROS version. How many of them? When I upgraded to 7.12.1 I have seen two such reboots within a week and made a SUP ticket, they recommended me to attach a terminal to the serial port (I have minicom running on a Linux machine) and captu...

Once every day for the moment. It has happened during MS Teams calls (call packets have DSCP markings) and while saturating the upload capacity of the WAN link.

Re: How to ***really*** block invalid ICMP, TCP, UDP packets and others (ver. 2021)

Thanks for these helpful rules. Using Wireguard, I've gotten quite a few droppped packets by the UDP drop port zero rule, for traffic which seems to be valid: 01:13:56 firewall, info UDP port 0 prerouting: in:(unknown 1) out:(unknown 0), connection-state:new proto UDP, 127.0.0.1:13131->127.0.0.1:0, l...

A minor bug. Some counters are not updated.

For example in the screenshot below, the fp-tx-packets-per-second and fp-tx-bits-per-second counters stay abnormally at zero.

Re: CAKE, FQ-codel etc, which ROS7 queue is best in your testing?

I think this is the correct way to use CAKE. Just need to add CAKE on ether1 for outbound traffic and on ether2 for inbound traffic. I concur. As I understand it, CAKE should be used alone, it's by design and has an integrated packet scheduler. I've got 2000Mb dl/600 Ul and I'm only using CAKE as a...
