Re: Creating WAN-separated VLAN

Thanks a lot! That worked! The firewall rules are now being triggered. Also thanks for explaining the "why". I'm not that familiar with network-related technology, but am always happy to learn! It still didn't work after this, but apparently pressing the toggle button on the device twice f...

Re: Creating WAN-separated VLAN

I used the packet sniffer to see where it connects to immediately after plugging in. First it connects to 192.168.99.1 on port 53. So that's the main DNS request we need to block. Then it connects to 18.185.182.159 on port 443. WHOIS tells me it's an Amazon server. After this another Amazon server: ...

Re: Creating WAN-separated VLAN

I just read this NOTE 2: If you plan to integrate these devices on a network that has internet and blocking their internet access, you must also block DNS requests (to the local DNS server, e.g. 192.168.1.1). If you only block outbound internet, then the device will sit in a zombie state; it will re...

Re: Creating WAN-separated VLAN

The Tuya devices are WiFi sockets. Not Zigbee.
But it wouldn't solve it. It can't connect to "the cloud", so it doesn't allow it to work =/

Re: Creating WAN-separated VLAN

Thanks for the suggestion @janvanhambelgium! That indeed worked! Wasn't really what I was looking for, but the simplicity of this solution... It makes me give up the search for a more automated one :) Unfortunately though... I just found out that these newer Tuya devices apparently don't work if the...

Creating WAN-separated VLAN

Hi all, Long time user, but still big time newbie of MikroTik routers here. I have a Home Assistant server set up and have bought a couple of Tuya devices. These work great, but are notorious for sending network data to China. Obviously I want to prevent that. What I was hoping to do is the followin...

Re: Creating guest network on hAp ax² (Wifiwave2)? [SOLVED]

Useful information, thanks!

But I'm assuming a full factory reset would also get me out of a fully locked box, right?

I will also be using the Safe mode a lot more from now on. I didn't know that was what it was for. Thanks!

Re: Creating guest network on hAp ax² (Wifiwave2)? [SOLVED]

You can have multiple interfaces on the same VLAN. No problem there. Well, it didn't let me. But I guess making to VLANs with the same VLAN ID is functionally the same. You need router input to provide router services (DHCP, DNS, ICMP, ...) to those Guest clients. If it really bothers you, put some...

Re: Creating guest network on hAp ax² (Wifiwave2)? [SOLVED]

Thanks holvoetn and Amm0! I think I managed to create the guest network. I created 2 interfaces, each having one of the physical interfaces as master. After that I created 2 VLANs (because apparently you can only have one interface per VLAN, but you can create multiple VLANs with the same VLAN ID?),...

Creating guest network on hAp ax² (Wifiwave2)? [SOLVED]

Hi all, I'm trying to create a guest network on my new hAp ax². There's plenty of tutorials and resources to be found on the internet (I will not link them, because apparently including links autodeletes posts?), but unfortunately it appears most of them are outdated or at least do not apply to this...

Re: How to create virtualAP? Not allowed to ask here? Is it illegal? [SOLVED]

Hi Holvoetn and Chechito, Thank you for your reply! The link in the previous post was literally copy pasted from another post on this forum. I find it strange that it suddenly would be malicious? This account was made today (see my profile), so I'm also a bit confused how it's possible that I had su...

How to create virtualAP? Not allowed to ask here? Is it illegal? [SOLVED]

Can I ask why my previous question was removed? I'm a bit confused by it? I've tried to find a page that lays out the forum rules, but couldn't find any. But even without, I can't imagine what I possibly did wrong? All I asked was how to create a VirtualAP on RouterOS7.7, since most of the guides I ...
