Re: WinBox MAC connection closes after 5 seconds [SOLVED]

have you tried to change the MTU of your interface back to default?
That was it! I had MTU set to 1300 for some reason... Thanks!

Re: Feature requests

Feature request: Register DHCP leases in the DNS Resolver, providing local name lookups for any DHCP client, static or dynamic.

I know it can be worked around with scripts, adding static entries on each lease but its bad solution that wears out flash memory.

Re: NEW FEATURE: Back to Home VPN

I've been using Wireguard on my main router, an hEX (mmips) for some time, running great. (...) (...) so what's the point of not supporting other architectures like mmips, taking into account the huge number of devices out there? Its unbelievable, they have Wireguard already implemented on mmips. m...

Re: RADIUS client is named "server" in GUI? [SOLVED]

Fully written out it could be "New RADIUS server connection". You are not adding a new RADIUS server to this device, but an extra connection to a RADIUS server .... "New connection to New RADIUS server". The connection is new, the RADIUS server may have been unknown to this rout...

RADIUS client is named "server" in GUI? [SOLVED]

Correct me if I'm wrong but if User Manager is MikroTik's RADIUS server implementation and RADIUS menu entry is used to create RADIUS clients

Why is the window named "New RADIUS Server" then?

Re: MicroSD card initialization (on Hex S specifically)

That was it, I inserted it upside down! Or actually, I put it correctly but the socket was upside down, for some reason. :)

Info for future readers: it sticks out by about 3 mm on hEX S and gets auto mounted, doesn't require reboot.

MicroSD card initialization (on hEX S specifically)

I inserted the card (32 GB) into Hex S and it doesn't get automatically detected. Am I supposed to reboot the device or there's some incompatibility?

Can someone who owns Hex S confirm how deep the card goes into the slot? Mine sticks out by about 8 millimeters.

(...) what does it matter what IP addresses your current devices get??
Because there are some devices with static IP in 192.168.1.0 network and I don't want to reconfigure them now.

The mikrotik MAIN you are installing after the ISP bridge mode device and another mikrotik device behind the MAIN router? There is only 2 routers: main ISP router and Mikrotik. Next: Enable proxy arp on second routers lan bridge interface. I don't quite understand proxy arp part, I see it mostly used in VPN setups, what would it do here? Efficient mode: Setup the dhcp server on the lan side with gateway address of 192.168.1.129 Less efficient, but more long term compatibl...

Re: WinBox MAC connection closes after 5 seconds [SOLVED]

Windows 10 tends to treat network connections as "public" applying to it a number of firewall (not antivirus) rules, Make certain that the network is "private" and/or try disabling firewall. Windows 11 is a troublemaker in this, but 10 usually works, unless there is some regress...

WinBox MAC connection closes after 5 seconds [SOLVED]

WinBox connecting via MAC address disconnects after 5 seconds. Connecting by IP works fine. This is on default router configuration and Windows10 PC connected directly to Eth2. WinBox 3.40 (newest) and RouterOS 7.13.4 (latest stable). Similar issues here: Unstable MAC Winbox connection Winbox close ...

Same address pool in WAN/LAN [SOLVED]

I'm trying to prepare new router before switching ISP router (which I have no access to) to bridge mode. Re: Everything but hAP ax2 is pointless?

Seems (to me) that there is not many requests for wifiless routers in that price range.
There seems to be huge demand for this type of routers. Isn't Hex one of the best selling MikroTik routers?

Everything but hAP ax2 is pointless?

I'm looking for non-wifi home router in $80-120 range. Using separate APs for Wi-Fi. RB4011 and RB5009 are different league and out of budget. Hex S - $79 RB450Gx4 - $99 hAP ax2 - $99 L009UiGS-RM - $119 Hex S is cheaper but MUCH slower than hAP ax2 RB450Gx4 is same price but slightly slower than hAP...

Swap between PPPoE and DHCP quickly? [SOLVED]

First time MikroTik user, preparing for first config. My plan was to sit behind double NAT for few days to make sure everything is configured properly (before calling my ISP to switch their router to bridge mode) then swap from DHCP to PPPoE config. But after the quick look at First Time Configurati...
