Re: All my device prefer 2.4ghz over 5ghz. Mikrotik hap ax2 with capsman.

Never mind the configs for the moment. Turn off the 2GHz radio on the router and see whether the devices connect at 5GHz. Or change the SSID on 5GHz and see if it comes up as an available network.

My 5 and 2 capable devices generally prefer 5 and only switch to 2 some distance away from the router.

Re: ethernet port on Guest Network [SOLVED]

So any ideas on why going from tagged to untagged worked? My Virtual Wireless interfaces are tagged, but my ethernet interface is untagged. I would be grateful for help in understanding this. The tagged/untagged setting is about how frames are seen on the cable side of ethernet port. Unless device,...

Re: ethernet port on Guest Network [SOLVED]

OK, I have made this work after seeing a more or less random post on a video. But I don't count this solved until I understand why. What I did was [in WebFig] I went to [Bridge -> VLANs -> <Local.Bridge> - <GN.vlan.ID> ] and moved ether5 from the tagged list to the untagged list. Now everything work...

Re: ethernet port on Guest Network [SOLVED]

There is no problem with subnets 10.* and 172.* between the 2 routers. The setup is working fine for both House and Guest Networks for devices connected by Wireless. The problem is solely one of making ethernet 5 into a port on the Guest Network. The upstream router is another Mikrotik and therefore...

Re: ethernet port on Guest Network [SOLVED]

Firstly, 7.17. 2 does not exist, only 7.17. 1 and of course betas for 7.18. 7.16.2, yes. My bad. just to be clear you are using this device ONLY as a switch/AP. Correct You wish to pass the guest network (vlan) to the wifi on the device and to at least one ethernet port. Yes, except the guest netwo...

ethernet port on Guest Network [SOLVED]

Hello I have set up a Guest Network on a hap ac lite, running 7.17.2. I have done this using the VLAN approach. It works fine and picks up Guest Network IP addresses from a dhcp relay from another router. Anything on the Guest Network via Wireless can access the internet via the other router. Howeve...

Re: VLAN'ising an existing configuration without disrupting service

Understood! How about another tack: I may have jumped to conclusions re: VLANs. Perhaps it's possible to just add a new virtual/slave AP for the Internet Of Shit critters and fence that off the main subnet with a few firewall rules? Like you, I have something of an aversion to videos, but 2 of the ...

Re: Issue with multiple SSID / LAN

A bit late to this, but this video from Cat5tv https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcwbhncwPug shows setting up a guest network with a different IP range and its own SSID, which is what you want, even though it is for a different use case

Re: hAP ax3 behind Internet Router with DHCP, not working as desired

My desired configuration is that the gateway for the WiFi clients is 192.168.0.1 (the AVM router) and the ip should also be obtained from the AVM. I don´t want to use two separate network areas. What needs to be changed with Winbox64 to get this done? OK, you want everything on the one subnet. In w...

Re: Bridge and Web Interface - RESOLVED [SOLVED]

If there is routing, it is anyway - conceptually - a LAN and a WAN (you can think at them as left and right, up and down or north and south or before and after the device, instead of inside and outside), even if both are LAN's, and if there is routing, then the firewall rules will have effect. The ...

Re: Bridge and Web Interface - RESOLVED [SOLVED]

If these guesses are correct, strictly speaking it was not you doing something "wrong" it was you omitting to do something "right". We are not on a bug hunt. I have done nothing wrong nor have I omitted to do anything right. It is working as I want it to work. It is solely a que...

Re: Bridge and Web Interface [SOLVED]

2nd bridge" should be able to access the default web interface, generally speaking. Only two things that stop it from working: 1. firewall rules are blocking (or misconfigured) 2. under /ip/service the "www" or "www-ssl" have some IP restrictions set Thanks. That is an answ...

Re: Bridge and Web Interface [SOLVED]

Guessing is a waste of time, get facts! I am not asking anyone to fix anything. I am not wanting anyone to go through my config because this is not a bug hunt. It works as I want it to work. I just want to understand PRINCIPLES. The principles are from knowledge and understanding of RouterOS, surel...

Re: Bridge and Web Interface [SOLVED]

Well, thanks for the help so far. I am assuming from your answer that the web admin SHOULD be available on any bridge and that I have done something to prevent it. If you can confirm that, it takes me some way towards my goal. I am not looking for a fix, because it is working as I want. I am looking...

Re: Bridge and Web Interface [SOLVED]

Thanks for replying, jaclaz. To be really clear, I have a setup which is doing exactly what I want, even though I have 2 bridges on one device. There is nothing which needs changing. I don't want access to Web Admin on the bridge which does not have it. All I want is to understand WHY the 1st bridge...

Bridge and Web Interface - RESOLVED [SOLVED]

Re: Setting up Wireless according to country

My link points to a setting for WiFi country. Setting that to “UK” doesn’t work? No. It doesn't seem to narrow down my choices to anything which passes the router's own self checks. As I said in the opening post, I have got the interface working by setting to 'South Africa', which indicates I am do...

Setting up Wireless according to country [SOLVED sort of]

Now SOLVED sort of: I did a factory reset for another reason and all works as it should. The overall history is that the router came into my possession at RouterOS v6.47.9 I upgraded to v6,49.10. I am speculating that this has carried settings forward, including may be antenna gain, which was part o...
