Validating connection speeds for 2.4 and 5 GHz bands

Hi there, I had some issues with the WiFi setup in my office. The space seems to fairly crowded but I only need to use WiFi in a single room, with a distance of 4 meters and with clear line of sight. My setup is to broadcast multiple SSIDs, that are all connected to a different VLAN. I also have abo...

Re: hAPx2 slow when compared to FritzBox [SOLVED]

But I mean, 5 GHz should be able to do 2.4 GBits.
Let me rephrase: expecting 800 MBits or so for a distance of 4 meters is optimistic?

I thought that that was the theoretical limit?

Re: hAPx2 slow when compared to FritzBox [SOLVED]

Never mind, I used a different laptop, and with that, I get nearly 600 Mbits. I googled, and there is an issue with my motherboard.. Sorry for wasting your time..

hAPx2 slow when compared to FritzBox [SOLVED]

Hi there, I have set up a network and basically use the hAPx2 to broadcast multiple Wi-Fi access points, one for each VLAN. I have a 1 GBits internet connection from the ISP. * If I plug in an Ethernet cable into the hAPx2 I get 950 Mbits or so, which is probably the max I can expect. * If I use one...

Re: Issues with IP-Lease over VLAN

Hey there, Sorry for my late reply, I was ill for a few weeks but wanted to get back to you earlier. My firewall rules are as follows: # 2024-10-21 20:12:58 by RouterOS 7.15.2 # software id = XXXXXXX # # model = RB5009UPr+S+ # serial number = XXXXXXX /ip firewall address-list add address=10.0.0.0/24...

Re: Issues with IP-Lease over VLAN

So I have done some further investigating, but before I can share that I need to clarify my topology: --(WAN)--> RB5009 --(802ad Bond with 2 Ethernet Ports)--> L009 |--(PoE Converter Ubiquiti from 40 to 24 Volts)--> hAPX2 So when testing the VLANs over multiple routers, any combination over the rout...

Re: Issues with IP-Lease over VLAN

Hi Johnson73, Thank you for your prompt response, I have removed the private-key from the Mullvad VPN, even though it is an invalid for a while. I have removed the firewall rules on the other router, but it did not resolve the issue. What do you mean by correct traffic flow ? So the VLANs do work wi...

Issues with IP-Lease over VLAN

Hi there, So my topology is: WAN -> RB5009 -(802.3ad bond)> L009 In which I create VLANs with their subnet and DHCP Server on the RB5009 Level. I want to forward these VLANs to the L009, so I send tagged packets via a 802.3ad Bond to the L009. Issue: If I restart I port on the L009, that untags VLAN...

Re: Masquerade with VLANs [SOLVED]

@mkx, this was the issue: completely unset "connection-type" property of the first firewall filter rule. Setting it to empty value is very much different than not setting the property at all. We have Internet on the VLANs!!!! I guess we are already at the stage that we should discuss the V...

Re: Masquerade with VLANs [SOLVED]

Hi there, thank you soooo much for the feedback. I am still learning all of this and your support is invaluable to me! So let me answer the point by point, starting with the points made by mkx: 1. I have disabled that feature now 2. What is the default? I have used 1500, with no avail. 3. I don't in...

Masquerade with VLANs [SOLVED]

Hi there, I have 4 VLANs: * VLAN10 - General * VLAN20 - Project TRNG * VLAN99 - Management * VLAN100 - Guest I want them to be connected to the internet. I was unable to make it work. My approach was to make sure that my firewall wasn't blocking anything and enabling NAT (srcnat, to ether-port 1). M...

Re: RB5009 and wierd throughput [SOLVED]

So further investigation has proven the problem. The Fritz.Box 6690 Cable is shit. The 2.5 GB causes all sorts of issues. Here is a list of forum posts: https://forum.vodafone.de/t5/Ger%C3%A4te/FritzBox-6690-Internetprobleme-bei-LAN-Verbindung-an-2-5-GBit/td-p/2977493 https://www.vodafonekabelforum....

Re: RB5009 and wierd throughput [SOLVED]

Thanks for your thoughts! So I did some more tests and the conclusion is the following. When I force the Fritz.Box to establish a 1 GB connection, I get full bandwidth. If it negotiates a 2.5GB connection, the connection slows down to ~550 Mbps. I tested the following scenarios: * Fritz.Box 1 GB por...

RB5009 and wierd throughput [Solution: FritzBox connection issue] [SOLVED]

Hi guys, This is my first post, so I am hope I am doing it in the correct manner, and in a way that I am not wasting anyone's time. In short: the RB5009 seems to bottlenecking my connection and I don´t understand why. My topology is as follows: Internet --> Fritz.Box (ISP Router) --> RB5009 note tha...
