Re: v7.17beta [testing] is released!

Would be great if MikroTik had rDNS for DHCP clients, I miss being able to identify the clients making requests to my Adguard Home server.

Re: v7.16 [stable] is released!

Tested reselect-interval again on my AX3, it works great without disconnecting clients only when it chooses non DFS channels. Otherwise the interface goes down for CAC (if you have 802.11k/v/r with the same SSID for both bands it shouldn’t be noticeable). I left it enabled for 2.4GHz with auto chann...

Re: Mikrotik or others on AX wifi access point

I don't know why but i have a feeling that ax2 provides better wifi coverage than ax3.
Yeah, these high gain antennas are too directional compared to internal ones.

Thanks Mikrotik, the new mDNS repeater is awesome for people with their streaming devices in isolated VLANs! Just make sure to allow input to 224.0.0.251 on port 5353 hehe

Re: Prefer DFS channels on hAP AX3

BTW heavily congested ? You obviously need to take into account your client devices but I doubt UNII-3 ranges are frequently used ? Outside of the EU UNII-1 and UNII-3 concentrate the higher amount of APs as DFS is not required to operate on these frequencies, I have neighbor whose ISP router is ru...

Re: Prefer DFS channels on hAP AX3

Correct. You can specify the frequency range yourself but if it's only DFS range and DFS is detected, it's radio silence when that happens ... Thanks for the quick reply! In the interface status I can see there's a list of channel priorities however it doesn't seem possible to customize them Screen...

Prefer DFS channels on hAP AX3

Hello there, is it possible to prioritize DFS channels? As the channel selection algorithm seems to prefer non DFS channels despite they’re heavily congested. As far as I understand if you pass only DFS channels in the frequency options it won’t have any fallback when a radar is detected, is this co...

Attach each VAP to a VLAN and use Firewall rules to isolate the networks, also enable client isolation in the WiFi interfaces

Re: Mikrotik or others on AX wifi access point

Today, I unset the frequency setting on my hAP AX3 router from channel 100 (which is clear in my environment). It automatically switched to channel 149, and now the WiFi performance is fantastic. The radio is reporting a TX power of 28 dBm, up from the previous 20 dBm. I'm beginning to think that t...

Re: Mikrotik or others on AX wifi access point

Did a little test with net analyzer. In bathroom I get -70 to -72 dBm on 5 GHz on Mikrotik. I've seen -69 for a short time. On TP-Link that's -73 whole time. I've played with settings on TP-Link and now phone stays connected to 5 GHz network with full speed... 3 out of 4 bars on WiFi. Speedtest is ...

Hi, I dont'see any test, review, comparison with mikrotik access point . I see on the web a lot of other brand items. Re: v7.16rc [testing] is released!

Me too, also with the default !reselect-interval channels are not scanned? I would answer with yes. It would be a breaking change otherwise. I tried with a low interval and the interface status changes to scanning, dfs and whatever. So it is no background operation. May be different on AX hardware ...

Re: v7.16rc [testing] is released!

LTS kernel support was recently shortened to just 2 years and one of the reasons stated was that almost nobody is using them and that is according to Greg Kroah-Hartman. He is right of course when saying that the most recent mainline stable kernel is the most secure one but companies like Red Hat t...

Re: v7.16rc [testing] is released!

I have some questions on how the reselect-interval works? Does it uses dedicated RF hardware like other vendors and most importantly does it interrupt WiFi network traffic on the interface when a DFS channel is being used and the background scan is triggered?

Thanks!

Edit: I have a hAP AX3

Re: hap ax3 random wireless disconnects

What I did to “fix” disconnections on my hAP AX3 was increasing the DHCP lease time from 30 minutes to 1 day on all the interfaces. My iPhone was disconnecting all the time before doing this change.
