Topic: Getting EOIP Bridge to work through 1:1 NAT
Replies: 1

We've duplicated this issue, a few times. Even if the IP:IP natting of the box between the two end points has GRE enabled, it still fails to pass traffic normally. I thought about running IP to IP tunnels, then EoIP, or maybe run a PPPoE or PPTP session then EoIP session over that (lots of overhead)...

Req: Add LZO or gzip type compression to tunnels (EoIP, etc)

Would it be possible to add LZO or gzip compression to EoIP or other tunnels, possibly even add it to Nstreme, so that Nstreme can run software level compression? Fast processors should be able to strongly compress some data, especially text/html, non-compressed data. I believe a competing software ...

Can you point me to any Freeradius mods that will allow us to set a max monthly limit? We used to use ICradius, but its now very out of date. ICradius used to support a max-monthly-limit in minutes, which would do exactly as you describe, it would automatically change the max-session-time to match w...

Feature Requests, winbox options..

Couple options I'd really like to see in winbox: - Ability to "add" new rules while your in the firewall/nat rule boxes. So that you can add, instead of apply. By adding, it would add a second rule or third rule, etc. This way, if we want to add 100 rules, we don't have to keep closing the...

In our testing, the dBm tx power settings are actually relative, but not likely true dBm tx powers. Setting tx power to default, with the advanced tab, we see that default is 24-27dBm in some configs, some other configs, it might be 17dBm. Regardless, RSSI on the remote side does not increase on a d...

Followup on this last post.. With the problem radio, we have noticed that in an AP scan, a nearby competitor AP is about 1/2 to 1 mile away and is showing up with a -58 to -60dBm signal strength at our AP on this sector that was having problems. I was almost certain it was a noise problem, because c...

FYI, we may have isolated one of these units that was losing link (about 50-60 customers associated to a 2.4Ghz AP, 6 radios in an ITX box with an RB18). Troubleshooting today, I moved customers to another sector after we found that none of the tx power settings would work right on this specific rad...

I found compression settings. It wasn't installed on my latest 2.9rc10, since it appears the wireless-legacy was installed by default (even though I uploaded both packages via FTP, it upgraded to legacy instead of the normal wireless package by default). I had the same problem with routing. Instead ...

I'm using 2.9rc10 on ITX's and WRAP's with CM9's. None of them are showing the compression option anywhere within winbox. Also, while telnet'ing in, I checked options there and I see nothing related to compression via console. I also downloaded the latest winbox from our routers, but it made no diff...

We are using CM9's only. We have no SR5's deployed.

We are still having this issue, so its not strictly related to the SR5.

Atheros issues..

It seems we have a few links that tend to drop off after a few hours or sometimes a few minutes. These links have been up for months, but occationally experience an outage, even though on the 8 Mile PTP with 29dBi solids on each side, we're getting about a -60 signal on each end. What happens, is th...

Radius Auth, limit total time (not session time) in minutes

Can anyone tell me how to setup Radius to limit customers on a Mikrotik hotspot, to a specified maximum period of time (ie, 5 minutes, 1 hour or 10 hours)? We are using freeradius and have been unable to find a method to notify the mikrotik hotspot that the customer is limited to 5 minutes instead o...

Instructions for Proxy-ARP Bridging, aka MAC-NAT

Can someone please post an example of MAC-NAT or proxy-ARP bridging, as done by many low cost devices on the market. We are wanting to use both private and public IP's on both sides of a Mikrotik box configured as a repeater. We've tried various configurations, read manual pages, forum documentation...

Ok then, can anyone describe how to setup a MAC-NAT configuration on Mikrotik?

No need to try to talk me out of bridging, we're doing it anyway.

That example does not work as true proxy-arp should. By looking at that example, it makes the lower half of your subnet unusable. This does not allow for roaming IP's from AP to AP, it requires that upper IP's are always used. Correct or incorrect? Rather than doing that, its easier to split a /24 i...

Of Course I've read the manual, about 20 times. The proxy-arp example in the manual refers to use of PPPoE. I'm not using PPPoE. I know of others who are very technical and cannot understand exactly how to configure these settings. Please write some specific documentation to this issue. Its very sim...

Instructions for Proxy-ARP without use of PPPoE

Can someone please post documentation on how to use Proxy-ARP so that we can operate a "station" and "AP" as a repeater in a proxy-arp bridging scenerio? For example: Wlan1 - 5Ghz Station, linked to 5Ghz AP Wlan2 - 2.4Ghz AP, linked to clients Ether1 - General Ethernet client acc...
