Re: NAT or Not NAT based on IP address

Since I want this network to expand quickly, I just decided to understand OSPF. I finally got it working when I worked backwards - first get public IP's to work and then private IP addresses are easy enough. I was going about it all wrong (not the technical stuff, just the visualization stuff) so I ...

Re: NAT or Not NAT based on IP address

Are you going to help us or "help" us? I am familiar with you guys, and we would like to buy one of the units you sell when we get large enough, but for now, I just need free message board support because I'm running this under test conditions only. Can you offer any pointers at this time ...

Re: How can I route public IP's to my clients without 1:1 NAT?

No it did not. I went ahead and posted more information, questions, and my configuration over in

If there is any way that someone can help me, it would be appreciated.

Re: NAT or Not NAT based on IP address

Ok, I'm going to post my test configuration start to finish and just strip out parts of the public IP addresses or anything that's not useful. /ip address add address=X.X.109.1/24 interface=ether1 /ip pool add name="test_pool_private" ranges=192.168.42.10-192.168.42.249 /ppp profile add na...

Re: NAT or Not NAT based on IP address

Here is the network diagram with some basic explanation. Right now, we have a linux box running iptables and dhcp for the private customers, and a linux box with bridging enabled for the public IP customers. We just go to the customers router and enter in the IP, subnet, and gateway information manu...

Re: NAT or Not NAT based on IP address

Actually, I was more looking for the solution provided on this topic: http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22671 I am going to attempt to use OSPF and then run the PPPoE server to hand customers a public or a private IP address. I will let people know if this works later today. Edit: I ...

Re: How can I route public IP's to my clients without 1:1 NAT?

This is exactly what I have been looking for! Why hasn't anyone been able to answer my questions? Probably because I was explaining it all wrong. Thanks for this guys.

NAT or Not NAT based on IP address

I am running v 3.9 and would like to figure out how to NAT some customers and not NAT others based on IP address. Here is the setup: Using PPPoE Server to hand out public and private IP addresses based on username and password, but all customers are behind the firewall, so they all appear to be comi...

Re: PPPoE Routing with Public IP Addresses?

I want the customers who have public IP addresses to go directly out on the internet without passing through the RouterOS firewall at all. I do not want the masquerade srcnat rule to apply to those clients. They need access to all of their ports directly. As an example, if they receive the public IP...

Re: PPPoE Routing with Public IP Addresses?

Is this not a Beginner Question? Maybe this topic should be in the General section. I can delete this and repost this somewhere else if it is suggested.

PPPoE Routing with Public IP Addresses?

Before we switched to Mikrotik, I was using two servers to handle our wireless network: 1. A Linux machine running iptables and dhcpd. Any customer with one of our wireless CPEs could connect to our towers. 2. A Linux machine running bridge-utils and ebtables (to prevent arp cache poisoning). We wou...
