Sorry for waking up the old thread :) I have an ubiquity edgerouter lite ( cavium dual core ). It does the job so far,capped at 750M over pppoe but with all the PBR and iptables and stuff. No problem, can barely wait for it ! I just hope it'll manage to do the gigabit pppoe without too many headaches. I mean, I hope it won't get its CPU to 100%.

I'd use it just to unpack/pack pppoe frames and NAT everything to another router ... So far, yes .. I've seen routers that can do stock gigabit over pppoe, the problem being that their hardware nat implementation is rubbish and people from openwrt won't have that into their firmware BUT I LIKE OPENW...

Ok .. I have a few problems with mikrotik .. for now .. I hope it's my fault because mikrotik is wonderful .. so here it goes ... 1) why do the response times from time to time get to 9ms - 15ms ( and don't get back to <1ms until I make some more traffic ) .. thanks .. did .. works .. now I see the issue I explained in my edited post .. the response times are weird .. and that's not good .. the whole test was done in a lab in which cables don't get more than 5 meters ..

pppoe-server response times ..

ok .. installed pppoe-server .. working ok .. ( mikrotik will only be used as the pppoe-server .. the dhcp is relayed .. so is the dns and other stuff ) .. the thing is that I can't get more than 5 M/s when testing speed through mikrotik's pppoe .. but when on direct line I get 10M or more .. someth...
