Anybody out there know of any routerboard, amplifier, antenna combinations that are certified by the FCC as a complete system?

Question about SSL security

When I configure the hotspot to use SSL, does that mean that everything that passes over the network to the user's web browser is encrypted, or does it only encrypt the hotspot user's login name and password during the login process?

Re: Invalid name\password using SSL

Well, I finally got RADIUS to work with SSL certificates. I think I need to write a cookbook procedure for this, because there were a few things not mentioned in the docs on how to do this. Anybody interested? First I want to see if I can duplicate it.

Re: Critical login failure via ftp

Which would be better, change the port or exclude IPs? Crap. Now I am getting the same message for SSH. Who is this joker? That really chaffs my hide. Is there any way to find out who is doing this?

Critical login failure via ftp

Everyday, in the late afternoon, I get this message on my MT box. echo: system, error, critical login failure for user Administrator from x.x.x.x via ftp The message just keeps repeating over and over, and over, scrolling down my screen. I barely have enough time to enter a command myself before it ...

Re: Invalid name\password using SSL

I decided to re-install MT from scratch. After I setup dhcp and the clock, I ran the command: /ip hotspot setup . Next, I created hotspot users. This time, however, to avoid getting the hotspot users confused with the routerOS users, I gave them the names, hs-admin and hs-test1 . Then, I verified th...

Re: hotspot urgent help multiple mac login

What is "net-cut"? Is this a hacker tool or something that I need to watch out for?

Re: Invalid name\password using SSL

radius secret is correct. radius works because hotspot user "admin" CAN log in, but the hotspot user "testuser" can NOT. Why one user but not the other?

Re: Invalid name\password using SSL

Here is the process I used to get to this point: 1.Setup DHCP client on public side of MT box. 2.Setup DHCP server on private side of MT box. 3.Set date & time. 4.Enter command: ip hotspot setup Hotspot interface: ether1 Local address of network: 192.168.88.1/24 Masquerade network: yes Address p...

Invalid name\password using SSL

It appears that I have successfully installed ssl certificate and I can login as admin using https. I cannot, however login as another user. The user has prepaid time, and is enabled, but I get "invalid name or password" when trying to login as the user. Suggestions anyone?

Directories available with FTP

When I access the routerOS with FTP as admin with full rights, the only directory I see is the hotspot directory. Obviously there are a lot more files and folders on the system than that. Is there a way to see more, or is that all admin can do?

Re: Question about email client

I realized that my upstream provider had 3 separate IP address for e-mail servers; one for incoming, another for outgoing, and another for online account access. The address I used for /tools e-mail server was for the online account access IP address. I went back into Winbox and changed the server I...

Re: Need help installing a SSL Certificate

I don't have a Linux box lying around to generate certificates on using OpenSSL. Is there any other way to get a certificate without paying a wad of cash?

Re: Question about email client

Okay. I did a nslookup of my upstream provider's email server like you suggested and got a "non-authoritative" name and IP address. In Winbox, I put the IP address in the server field, and my email address (something@coxinet.net) in the "from" field (which is different than the d...

Re: Need help installing a SSL Certificate

When you get the certificate, you have to copy some files (server.crt, server.key, and server.csr) to the RouterOS right? You use FTP to upload them, but what directory do you upload them to? or does it matter?

I missed the list because I was not using Winbox on a Windows PC. I was using the command line interface on the RouterOS, But once I used Winbox, I saw the list.

Re: Question about email client

I am trying to setup the user-manager and hotspot on the same PC. The PC has 2 NICs, public side and private side. When setting up the subscriber\customer, what do I put for the email address? Can it be something like someone@yahoo.com, or hotmail, or something like that?

Question about email client

I am running RouterOS on a PC, but can't send any emails. For this RouterOS email client to work, do I need to setup an email server on a separate computer?

Re: Browser challange response error

Never mind, I got it fixed. Operator error on my part I left it alone for awhile and went for my daily jog. While I was running, I remembered that I was distracted in the middle of the procedure for putting the hotspot and user manager on the same box, and I never entered the last command in the pro...

Browser challange response error

I've been toying around with the Router OS on a PC. One NIC is connected to cable modem and the other NIC is connected to a small 5 port switch, which is connected to another client PC. I've successfully configured User Manager and Hotspot to run on the same computer. When I try to access the Intern...

Re: Setting time-zone-name

Forgot about Winbox. I've been doing all the configuring from the RouterOS command line. Let's see ... opening Winbox. There it is in "System > Clock". Doh!! Well, as it turns out there aren't any cities on the list too close by, so I entered the information manually. The manual method inc...

Setting time-zone-name

I am trying to set up the time and date settings on the RouterOS on a PC, but the documentation is rather incomplete. I enter the command: system clock set time-zone-name=? and get "TimeZoneName ::= Africa/Abidjan | Africa/ Accra | Africa/Addis_Ababa | Africa/Algiers | Africa/Asmara | ..."...
