R5SHPN cards unstable in cold weather

Hello all, I need help badly. I have an R5SHPN card installed in a 433AH; we have mounted a number of these units on towers to use as sectors. The problem that I'm having is when the temperature drops below 0 degrees Fahrenheit the router becomes unstable, crashes and is typically unreachable via an...

Re: Alfa AWPCI085H mini-pci card issue

I tried to do several searches to find which high powered cards people recommend but I wasn't able to find anything. Thanks for the info Normis, do you have any recommendations for a high power card (500mw or better) @2.4GHz that works well with RouterOS?

Alfa AWPCI085H mini-pci card issue

Hello all, I needed a high power transceiver card so I looked on the supported hardware list and saw the Alfa AWPCI085H. The specs for the card say it is capable of up to 27 dbm of transmit power but when I install it in my 433AH it says the default transmit power is 22 dbm at most. What gives? I th...

Re: Installs during poor weather

We are using an RB411 with R52 card mounted inside of a rootenna enclosure. We mount it to the roof of homes using a standard dish style J mount.

Installs during poor weather

Hello all, We are a new WISP facing the winter season and I wanted to get people's opinions about how to do installations during snowy weather. If it is snowing or raining do you reschedule the installation for a day with better weather? If you go forward with the installation what do you do differe...

GPS integration problem

Hello all, I am trying to incorporate a Garmin GPS 15H into a mobile CPE device and I have run into a bit of a problem. When I reboot the CPE with the GPS connected to the serial port the routerboard locks during the boot process. If I disconnect the GPS I can boot normally and if I reconnect the GP...

Re: Intermittent backhaul link - help needed badly!

Just to let everyone know, with the help of Butch Evans we were able to determine the problem was related to v3.14 of RouterOS, when we upgraded the AP to 3.15 it resolved itself.

Re: Intermittent backhaul link - help needed badly!

Hello Tim, My signal level and Noise floor stay pretty constant resulting in about a 30 db signal to noise. Looking at the CCQ in the status window it seems to vary quite a bit, from 65% all the way to 100% even with the steady signal level. When I say the connection goes bad I mean that any attempt...

Intermittent backhaul link - help needed badly!

Hello all, I am having a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I have an AP with an RB433AH and two R52 transceiver cards. I use one of the cards as an AP bridge for the 11g access network and the other card as an station for a 11a wireless backhaul to a wireless router (waveteq shadowmaster...

Re: Routerboard won't use higher data rates

but if the amp doesn't improve SNR then what good would that do? wouldn't you just be adding the noise figure as an additional loss?

Re: Routerboard won't use higher data rates

Thanks jp, we are using high gain antennas as well but if a receive amplifier doesn't improve SNR then what is the point of it?

Re: Routerboard won't use higher data rates

Thanks for the info Kijomabb you have been very helpful. The only problem with eliminating the amp is that I won't get any receive sensitivitiy enhancement without them. In this case that's 10db that the amp adds to my SNR. The amplifiers have automatic gain control, would it be benficial for me to ...

Re: Routerboard won't use higher data rates

I'm using a Mikrotik R52 card and the transmit power is on default. I am also using an RF Linx bi-direcitonal amplifier in both the AP and client device for the increased transmit power and receive sensitivity.

Routerboard won't use higher data rates

Hello all, I am having a bit of a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I have a Mikrotik AP (RB 333) and client device (RB 411) which I can connect to each other just fine. My problem is that neither of them will use data rates above 18 Mbps, even though I have the higher rates enabled. My ...
