Re: Add Vlans to existing network

Thanks for your response. But I think it may have confused me more ;-) To be clear there is not a WLAN interface on the router. The wireless is being handled by an external AP. Basically what i have is this: http://www.chrisgilles.com/img/network.jpg And this is what I'm hoping to accomplish: http:/...

Add Vlans to existing network

hello, Attempting to jump into the world of VLANs and a bit confused on how to start. A quick explanation of what I have existing and where I wanna go, and perhaps someone can point me in the right direction. I have RouterOS installed on a two-port ALIX PC. ether1 = WAN ether2 = LAN. Im curious if the priority settings in the user-manager function on their own, or do I need to create Queues within routeros that these settings reference.

It's consistent across clients/os. And only for specific websites. For example, surfing to hotmail brings up the login window every time. Facebook results in "Safari can't open page" or "secure connection failed" in Firefox or "website not available" in chrome. It may h...

Hotspot and browser caching "website not available"

I see this quiet a bit with routeros, when using the Hotspot. I've been able to work around this for years, by simply telling people to clear their browser cache, but as I"m setting up another client, it's really not an option. Perhaps I have been missing something simple all these years. Basic...

Near as I can tell, it's because I'm not using a RouterBoard? I have this installed on an ALIX board, are these statistics not supported? Is there any other way to get them?

Re: Can't change transfer-limit after upgrade to 6 to 4, via

Yes, but that does not really give me the information or access to what is needed. That only tells me what sessions are happening or have happened. This does not really give me access to the transfer-limit that I used to be able to apply to each specific user, within their profile, and then change t...

I don't see any submenu under sessions in the usermanager. When I click on sessions, it shows me a list of user sessions that have taken place. I'm unclear if your answer is referring to the API. It's all a bit confusing with the changes in the usermanager from 4 to 6. Looks like things have changed...

Can't change transfer-limit after upgrade to 6 to 4, via API

Hi, I've got a client that I've not been to in a number of years. I did an update from 4 to the latest 6.22. they have a PHP page which accesses the API so that they can change transfer-limits on users without having to log into Usermanager. After the upgrade it is no longer working. I'm guessing th...

Re: Can connect to PPTP on LAN but not WAN? or L2TP

Doesnt look like any of those are affecting the connection. Disabling the firewall has no effect. Checked with ISP, nothing is blocked(I previously had a cisco router with VPN, had no problems connecting). Also shouldn't I be able to connect to my VPN on the WAN port from my LAN? any other thoughts?

I suppose my terminology was not correct on that. Actually the "group" referred to in the user manager is actually the "profile". So how do I reset the counters for all users with the same profile?

I really need to figure this out, hope someone can help!!
