Firewall Address List in Route Filters [solved]

I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature request! With v7 BGP you need to advertise networks by using a firewall address list. I have a script that automatically sets up all the filters for me, previously populating BGP Networks and using the same info to update scripts was quite easy. With the ne...

I have noticed when migrating from v6 filters to v7 filter the prefix length 0-32 does not seem to translate properly.

For example this
prefix-length=0-32
translates to
 dst-len > 32

where is my mind it should be
dst-len <= 32

The other advantage of loopback (especially in MPLS setup) is that the loopback address will not go down if one of the interfaces is disconnected (as might happen with an IP on a WLAN). It also helps with keeping Source IP consistent when using it in RADIUS or anywhere else that you specify source IP.

You cannot bridge a wireless interface running in Station mode. You need to use station-pseudobridge or station-pseudobridge-clone. Alternatively you can use station-wds mode with wds enabled on the AP.

The best way to do this is to use Point to Point addressing on your network. This means using /32 addresses on your client side. Then you dont need any tunnels of any sort and you dont waste addresses. Your routing will be more complicated though.

Mangle Transparent Proxy traffic

I am trying to create a mangle to catch all port 80 traffic coming from the transparent proxy running on my main mikrotik router. Since the proxy uses the same outgoing IP as all other traffic leaving the router I dont know how to catch specifically proxy traffic. The reason behind this is I want to...

It really does not matter what you input as the gateway address - as long as there is an entry. Using the MT's IP address will work fine.

polokus have you tried something like:
/tool user-manager user reset-counter [find subscriber="your logon name"]
Where you replace "your logon name" with the name you use to log into user manager. This should reset all the counters for users you have added.

The Universal Client is a 1:1 NAT installed by default on the Hotspot. The most likely problem is your clients with manual setup dont have a default gateway specified in Windows. This means the client PC will never try to find a route out, which means the MT Hotspot never gets the request.

You should also specify a source port depending on if you want to dst-nat the same port or a different port.

I am trying to write an IF-THEN statement to compare 2 values which are either tru or false. The statement is of the form: IF (condition = true AND condition = true) THEN do action An example I tried is : :if ([/ping 10.0.0.254 count=1] & [/ping 10.0.0.253 count=1] = 1) do {:put "Both Gatew...

You have to match p2p to something so that the router can distinguish, even if it goes out the default route. It is easy to match p2p and then assign to default route and then assume all other traffic that is not p2p must go through alternate route. It would not be easy to do the other way around

in order to do this this you first have to match all-p2p and then match the rest of the traffic with your routing marks. Then you need a routing table for the p2p traffic. you can then direct p2p along the alternate route and keep normal traffic on the default route. Your example matches all traffic...

How many routers are between the downloaders and your masqueraded gateway? The normal solution would be policy routing, but it depends on your setup as to how you would identify the users.

Add the 2 mb gateway in twice e.g

0.0.0.0/0 x.x.x.x
0.0.0.0/0 x.x.x.x
0.0.0.0/0 y.y.y.y

where x.x.x.x is the 2 Mb and y.y.y.y is the 1 meg

This will create an approximate 33 / 66 load balance split

Hope this helps!

As far as I know this only works if your ISP supports multilink and usually uses 2 pppoe connections to bond together. I dont think MT supports this config. It usually requires special hardware. Check out the Planet XRT 402 and XRT 204 for some cheap options
