Re: netflow monitoring on mirrored port

I finally banged out a solution for this. If anyone has anything better, please post it! Here's what i did - created a MetaRouter, created a virtual eth for the MR, and joined that to the bridge that has the connection to the mirror port. Add the ip-firewall to the bridge, then add a dest-nat to the...

Re: Best way to achieve Fast Roaming?

Still looking for this answer, How to have clients automatically re-home to the best available AP. I'm reading about 802.11F IAPP but it looks like that's not supported in RouterOS. Does anyone have ANY ideas about this topic?
Thanks,
Shaun

Best way to achieve Fast Roaming?

Hello, I'm trying to determine the best architecture to allow mobile clients to roam between APs. I've seen scripts, and read about the theory of WDS, but I've yet to see the article entitled "How to have clients automatically re-home to the best available AP". In almost all cases, it seem...

Re: help creating auto update scripts

I've been looking through the posts, and here's where I'm getting stuck... I'd like to create a scheduled task that "checks in" periodically for any new information, or that will run any new commands. Let's say one time I want to increase logging for a while, so I put these commands into a...

help creating auto update scripts

Hello, We have several devices that may or may not be on at a given time. I'd like to write a script that will fetch any new updates that we'd like to make, with some reporting and basic error recovery in place. sometimes a device may have missed a previous update, so I'd like to be able to assure t...

When to roam...

Hello, What I'm experiencing right now is that a client will do an initial scan, find the best AP, and connect to it. This is great, but it seems that it will hold onto this connection until it drops (when roaming). Only after dropping will it do another scan, even if the client has roamed to anothe...

Is Bridging the only option for roaming?

Hello, I have a need for vehicle-mounted units to be able to roam between APs fairly seamlessly as they drive around (private network). For this architecture, I see a bridged network as the best option, because the clients can be assigned a static IP that can be used wherever they go. I'm using RB43...

Re: Update license key but NO direct Internet access

Well, it still doesn't quite work through this proxy, but it gave us the info we needed. We're now able to see the GET string that's being attempted, do it on another machine, then paste the results into the license.
thanks!!

Update license key but NO direct Internet access

Hello, We have a few MT 411A deployed at a private client site, behind a firewall/proxy server that requires authentication. Therefore, we have no direct Internet access without supplying credentials. From what I can see, the only way to update to the new license version is by pushing the "upda...

Re: directly connect RF without antennas?

Ethernet would be great, except for the first sentence in my post :). I'd much rather use a direct connection and attenuators, so that there's no radiation of 2.4 where there doesn't need to be (there will be a few of these units). That said, any recommendations on an attenuator brand/model? Thanks ...

directly connect RF without antennas?

Hello, I have a need to connect to a device that has 2.4 wireless capability only (no ethernet). We use a 900MHz network. The plan is to add a 2.4 card into an RB433 to reach this unit, and a 900 card to reach our network. I'd rather not spray 2.4 everywhere, so I'm exploring the pitfalls and design...

serial extension over IP or wireless?

Hello, I'd like to know if it's possible to use 2 MT devices as a serial extension (from the serial port on one unit to the serial port on the other unit). This was almost answered in another post, but not quite, so thought I'd start another thread. I can't use something like a virtual COM port, as ...

Re: GPS

Is it possible to gather the location information (LAT/LON) from SNMP OID values? This would do what I need done, and I could then grab them whenever I wished with an SNMP GET.
