Need help restoring Dude to defaults

Hi All, I somehow messed up my Dude installation, and I don't know how to restore it to factory defaults. I tried re-installing the NPK, but there are still no dude/files! I've been searching the forums and trying things for hours to no avail. This is a new unit in pre-production so I don't mind los...

Re: How do I add a comment to the hosts list in WinBox?

Can this only be done from the command line in Terminal Mode?
If so, what is the syntax?
Thanks

How do I add a comment to the hosts list in WinBox?

I bound an IP address in the Hotspot > Hosts list and set it to BYPASSED.

How do I create a comment using WinBox? I want to put the customers account name above the IP Address.

Thanks in advance!

Re: 5 RB411's into ethernet switch possible?

KillerOPS, thanks for pointing out the interference issue. To be honest, I was not taking that into account and must remember to use channels 1, 6, and 11 and pay attention to what I'm doing. G-lox, that does sound like a better way to do things. Somewhere I heard that "friends don't let friend...

Re: 5 RB411's into ethernet switch possible?

Hey people, This is a sincere request for help. I am a newbie to ROS, but I have successfully installed and have been operating an apartment hotspot since November 2009, and I'm seeing a 26% return on investment using MikroTik RB433AH (x3) in a WDS configuration. Now I am trying to do it smarter and...

5 RB411's into ethernet switch possible?

I am trying to design a standard configuration for several large apartment complexes.

I'm estimating 6 or 7 of these BH/AP clusters to cover each property.

Is this crazy? Somebody please stop me before I run off a cliff

THANK YOU!

Re: RB service life (MTBF) for investment analysis

Much appreciated nz_monkey.

I'm not an accountant, but I'm guessing this would constrain the depreciation schedule to 3 years also.

Ciao!

Re: RB service life (MTBF) for investment analysis

MTBF for same type each RB batch can be very different. It's related with when this RB is made, where and how large is production bath and some other consedirations. Yes, that is understandable. There are tolerances and acceptable variances for any product. But isn't that what the MEAN means in MTB...

RB service life (MTBF) for investment analysis

Hi All, I am calculating the internal rate of return (IRR) for a WiFi project involving a large number of MikroTik Routerboards (mainly RB411 family). What is the average service life or Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of these boards? I was going to use 10 years as a guess. Does anyone have hard n...

Re: Will changing WWW Service Port affect Hotspot?

Thanks fewi! Your time and assistance is greatly appreciated. I just re-read the docs section that you posted... understood about half of it. :) But now I understand better what the following means: Redirect all HTTP login requests to the HTTP login servlet. The 64873 is HotSpot HTTP servlet port. H...

Will changing WWW Service Port affect Hotspot?

Hi all, Will changing the WWW Service port affect Hotspot users? I want to remotely view graphs and need to change the WWW Service port to 81 because my WISP uses port 80 for CPE admin. I have hotspot users online right now, and I don't want to "experiment" and disrupt their service. :) Si...

Re: SSL Common Name and Hotspot DNS Name

Here is a follow-up for those of you who find this thread while searching along the same learning path as I'm on: The answer is yes . If you match the SSL Common Name to the Hotspot DNS Name, then everything works as it should. It's so cool to see the HTTPS encrypted icon when hotspot users are pres...

SSL Common Name and Hotspot DNS Name

1. When I generate a CSR (using RB ROS v3.3) for GoDaddy, I can make up any FQDN for the Common Name ? For example http://www.hotspot1.mickeymouse.com 2. Then I will submit CSR to GoDaddy, and follow howto's to import my SSL certificate 3. When I setup the hotspot, I MUST enter the SAME FQDN for DNS...

fewi, Thank you VERY much for the reply! I already had that wiki page printed out and notes scribbled on it :) 3.Secure response. When checked, PayPal will send response via HTTPS. Otherwise response will be send via HTTP; I guess my concern was the HTTP response from Paypal using port 80... If I ge...

Need Paypal/Authorize.net advice: Port 80 blocked by ISP

I am setting up my first paid hotspot with User Manager. I am reading that Paypal and Authorize.net need a public url and/or IP address and http port 80 on my Mikrotik for payment transaction acknowledgment. But my WISP is blocking port 80 so they can administer their CPE!! Is this going to be a pro...
