I have solved most of problems related to clients losing associations through using high gain antennas. Here are some of factors to consider: 1] Client position: How far is the client from AP ie distance; and at what angle horizontally and vertically the client is (relative to the AP). -->Documenati...

I simply reconfigured new Mikrotik and mounted it. The problem ceased. Clients are connecting to it without problem. However, I still have the problem with old one. Reconfiguring the other one does not solve problem of the prevoius equipment. Let me add something to my earlier discription of the set...

It sounds interesting. I will consider that.

By the way, it seems like I only know how to upgrade, does the downgrade work in the similar way? I know it is something I can read about, but I hope you can give quick tip.

ForePoint,

Thanks for your suggestion. I already upgraded the unit to Version 2.9.32 and it is now stable. However I am still monitoring it.

What is your comment on Version 2.9.32 ?

Sudden loss of association to AP

I have a strange problem here. I have Mikrotik system repeater Version 2.9.10 with two wlans: one configured as as AP for clients and the other as AP for backbone to the node (base). Normally I have atleast 6 clients connected to the AP. Strangely this morning I just saw that none of my clients are ...

Time based Bandwidth Control

I want to take advantage of Mikrotik Bandwidth Control Management and achieve the time based Bandwidth Control. That is; clients need to be assigned specific bandwidth at specific time. Eg: [1] Six Hours connection 17:00 to 23:00- 128k download/ 64k upload and the rest no connectio(0 k/0 k) [2] 24 h...

Assigning Secondary IP Address to Mikrotik Interface

I am wondering if there is a way of assigning two IP adresses on the same interface on Mikrotik equipment. I am looking at the setup where you make one interface primary and the other secondary as it is the case with Linux machine or Cisco router.

Durim,

Thanks for your suggestion.

I resorted to setting ap-bridge and station modes which achieved the objective I had in mind. It is up and running.

root-ap option missing

I want to achieve a point to point connection between two Mikrotik equipment both operating in bridge mode (mode=bridge). I would like to make one of the equipment parent and the other as a child by using root-ap="MAC of the parent" on the child. Having read about this approach in the manu...

Re: Association Problem

Do you set mode=station to bridge ?
The one set mode=station talks to ISP Access Point and this is wlan2 interface. The other interface wlan1 is configured as AP to talk to the LAN.

Association Problem

I am having problem associating with Mikrotic AP using the setup described below. I am configuring Mikrotik to act as a client bridge(station) on wlan2 and AP bridge (ap_bridge) on wlan1. The connection to ISP uses 19dBi Panel Antena RB/2019 while local connection AP uses 7.4dBi omni. There is no pr...

But if your concern is that this would compromise your network: Have you noticed the possibility to use a different WEP key for every client? I have Cisco Aironet 350 Bridge at the base. And this uses WEP as security option. While I am considering to change to other security options, I am already h...

Christian, Thanks for your quick responce. If I understand you right you want to stop your customer from viewing the WEP key, right? Exactly. To read it, he would have to gain access to the MikroTik at first. You know what, the bridge belongs to the Client. He will be administering it. That implies ...

Encrypting WEP Key

I am configuring Mikrotik bridge using WinBox v2.9.5. This bridge will be the client (station) to ISP which I work for. I intend to use WEP for security. My concern is that the WEP Key is being displayed in plain text. Is there a way of making the key encrypted. Can command line assist me to have th...
