Re: RBM33G ethernet port link issue

Update: I realized that many of the POEs we were sending out were only 100M POEs. It remains very strange that in my lab, other devices could link at 1G over a test cable run that the RBM33G could not (even with correct POE). The cable tested good but I re-terminated both ends and now the RBM33G get...

Re: Tunneling CDP messages

It looks like gibberish from ChatGPT or similar. With CDP being a proprietary Cisco protocol Mikrotik do not treat the multicast address it uses as special, so it should propagate throughout the broadcast domain of the layer 2 network. Is it possible to tunnel CDP through EOIP? Normally, when a CDP packet is received by a direct neighbor, it is read and dropped (not repeated to other device on same VLAN but not directly connected). On a cisco interface, you can configure it so that the CDP packet is forwarded with the command &quo...

Also, another idea (in case Mikrotik engineers read this):

Could a board be built so that the SIM slots can be set to different PCIe/m.2 interfaces with jumpers? That would make the board more versatile without adding too many SIM slots.

I tested the new RouterOS and the switch is much more stable now. Unfortunately it is missing some of the features I want. Is there documentation on the hardware capabilities of the switch chip (so we know what these switches will potentially be able to do when they grow up)? IGMP snooping or some w...

Re: IGMP Snooping

Does anyone know how the Multicast FDB works? I don't understand if adding an entry blocks that multicast, or tells it to forward? It seems like multicast by default forwards to all ports since there is no IGMP snooping. BTW, I too would like to have IGMP snooping. And hardware supported PIM routing...

Also, will there be any multicast filtering options in the switch chips? Or IGMP handled by the switch?

Yes but I don't want to add a default route, I want to add a specific route.

It would be really nice if instead of an add default route checkbox, they had a "+" that came up with the same options as adding a static route. This would solve many problems.
