We have had the same issue where we installed a new router with 6.44, we had to roll back to 6.43. Actually we were trying to use an RB4011 that shipped with 6.44 and wouldn't downgrade, so we had to replace it with a CCR1009. I was just googling to see if there was a resolution yet.

Right, the RAM is obviously good, and I ran it through the RB memory test and it passed fine. The memory in my MacBook Pro is also Crucial, but a different part number. I'll have to pop the cover off my laptop to check the part numbers, but I can do that now... stand by...

Turns out that the RAM was and wasn't the problem. Same symptoms with the replacement RAM. So I just installed that RAM in my laptop (where it's working fine) and I'm using a 2GB card out of my laptop in the RB1000 and it's also working a-ok.

Looks like the default was set for change-tcp-mss=yes. Bumping the MTU down to 1440 seems to work great on the two routers that weren't working. Changed the TrendNet to 1440 and tested. The DD-WRT router had an "auto" setting for the MTU which also worked, but I can't see where it tells me...

I believe hotspot uses radius for authentication. I'm working on redesigning a medium sized wisp, transitioning to mikrotik (1000+ subs), and I'm opting to use the User Manager package over a radius server. Easier for me, there are pros and cons I'm sure.

I have the RB1000U installed with the User Manager package loaded. Be installing a WiFi AP for PtMP fixed-wireless with a RB450G (overkill) beneath it.

The RB1000U will be taking a more active role for the rest of the network, once I test a workable migration strategy.

I'm wanting to set up a pair of mikrotik routers as the core routers for a WISP of about 1000 subs. I can use VRRP to cover the routing portion, but what about redundancy of the PPPoE and User Manager portion? Can the routers be load-balanced at the same time?
