Truth be told. My network is actually more complicated than i wanted shown earlier. I simply wanted to avoid unnecessary details in order to quicken the parth to a solution. So sorry about that, anav. BTW, the first router was a Netgear running DDWRT. It is behind a HFC modem (Harris CM8200). Luckil...
All depends on " what is the WAN between both RB's ". On your picture it could be point-to-point circuit from a provider. Definitely not "Internet" I would say looking at the IP's ? IF so, please adjust your drawing to resemble this correct. While written as 1.2.3.4 for privacy ...
After several hours reading the suggested documents and trying various settings, I am still unable to print to printer behind MikroTik router from another network. Last settings: /ip firewall nat add action=dst-nat chain=dstnat comment="Port Forwarding to Printer" \ dst-address=192.168.145...
Hi, I have a printer behind a MikroTik router with an IP of 192.168.22.40 I want to be able to print to this printer from various PCs which are behind another (ISP supplied) router with IP address network of 192.168.85.0/24). I have tried various port forwarding on MikroTik router but unable to use ...
(Sorry, but I have not been able to find a suitable answer to my issue on the forum). I need some help, pls. Issue : I want to be able, from behind the gateway (non-MikroTik) router (R1), to access a device (such as printer) that is placed behind a secondary MikroTik router (R2). R2's WAN is connect...
A new PAID app on Google Play Store that allows Android-based devices to connect using TAP. Not TUN. No more switching b/w TAP and TUN to suit Windows and Android prior to connection. Very neat. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.colucciweb.openvpn&hl=en In case anybody is interest...
It's true in what you're saying. But how practical and sensible is it in today environment? Taking your advice literally means one should not use the Net to be totally safe. Well, North Korea comes to mind. During the build of my NAS, I found out the security 'leak' of PPTP , which I used previously...
I am not trying stir up the hornet net or anything like that but simply want to say that certain VPN protocols are not as secure and therefore may compromise your chosen method without you knowing. Not to mention it a waste of your effort. - PPTP can be cracked by government security agencies, i.e G...
hi, ... is there anyway we can do the same when using a browser?? -sid MAC Winbox communicates with router using data link layer (layer2). Web browsers cannot do that. My first thought was that kirshteins was correct in that web browser only communicates at Layer 3. Thinking about it a bit longer, ...
if you have an admin user with no password, webfig will not ask for login details, but automatically log in. to stop this from happening, apply a password for the admin user. If I misunderstood you, clarify ... Thank you. I now know that webfig would automatically log in if default settings are not...
Normis wrote: we are using webfig on all our devices here, and have not seen such problems. can you send us supout.rif file from this device to support? To refresh your memory on this issue. it's a feature. if you have not configured a password (you are using default login, default password), then it will log in automatically Normis, I have not used default username nor password since I first started using Mikrotik. My Rb493GS has a non-default username and password. That's what I used...
Hi Folks, I have just remotely accessed Mikrotik router RB493GS via webfig 5.12 without the need to enter password. I thought it must have been a fluke first time after I upgraded to 5.12. But having tested on two different PCs, can confirm that I was able to login my home RB493GS remotely w/o havin...
Unable to Winbox-access RB450G which is connected to switch '2' of RB493G. By design, RB493G has 2 switches. Switch 1 consists of ports 10, 15 to 18. Switch 2 has ports 11 to 14. And I'd prefer to leave the two switches as is with the idea of leaving slow coaches (lower than gigabit connection) on s...
What I found works in the end was I had to allow the specific version of Netinstall.exe (I had several versions) which I need to flash the routerboard with; after first disabling Windows standard firewall did not seem to work. Not sure why. I disabled my other firewall though (Comodo). Steps I took ...
Hi rothhear, I personally had more than a fair share of my own in not being able to format routerboard when using Netinstall. I found out in the end that it's the firewall. In my case, it was the Windows standard firewall. Initially, I thought simply disabling my (own) installed firewall was suffici...
Fewi, Here is the configursation script as is after all firewalls were removed. A bit long and intimidating for me at my level. I have done some prelim testing of the current configuration with a different app than Iperf which I have not been able to install on my Windows so far. Rather posting them...
Fewi, Thank you. I'd really like your suggestion. 1. I have removed all firewalls. Reboot the RB450G. Tried a file transfer and speed remains the same as before. 2. Next, I took a deep breath and removed the bridge. Reboot RB450G. Then retried connecting a device in a different VLAN and the connecti...
fewi, I have to send you an image of the /ip route list instead since it's not shown up in the export script. [img] The /ip filter is shown up however /ip firewall filter add action=drop chain=forward comment="Invalid Connection...
fewi, Thank you for your reply. I have initially shown only a simply diagram of my network so not to complicate my question. But your poking question is sharp and to the right spot. What I also have are two Netgear GS108T switches connected to the main HP switch. One to family room at the back where...
fewi, Slow network data transfer as one issue. But interestingly, I have read sort of conflicting advice in this forum regarding the correct (best) VLAN settings. I really want to be sure on my VLAN understanding before moving on to my next topic. I bought the book written about Mikrotik. But not su...
Dear Gurus, I am not sure if my current Mikrotik setting for VLANs is the best possible configuration. I have a suspicion that it is not as indicated by a number of issues. So may I ask if some Mikrotik guru who's kind to help review the MT settings that I have below whether you, as an expert, would...
Despite few trials, from changing the interface to VL-105 in place of eth3 to removing the VLAN interface from ether3, I still can not get the Net from the wifi side.
I can not ping an external IP adress from the wifi side. I can ping the RB450G router from the wifi side though.
Netrat, If they can't ping the router or each other then I think you need to check the configuration on your switch. With perserverance and 'faith' in your suggestion, and after a few more hairs falling out of my head, I 'managed' to get the HP Procurve 1810's settings correct and traffic now flows ...
Hi Netrat, No, they can not ping the router. Neither can they ping the gateway of their own subnets. But from a PC in VLAN101, I can ping all 'default gateways' of these VLANS, i.e . 192.168.103.1, 192.168.104.1 & 192.168.105.1 alas but not the individual IP of a node in one of these subnets. I ...
Dear Community and Netrat, In my excitement with the solution given, I forgot to properly check that all VLANS have traffic going through. I feel somewhat embarrassed to have to come back asking for more help. But after several trials during the last few days, I am still unable to get Mikrotik to le...
In my excitement, I overlook the fact that nodes in my Vlan 105 (wifi) does not get connected to the Net under the solution. I can't connect to the wifi router either.
Netrat & Astounding, Thank you both for your help. I did not realise how neat and elegant Netrat's solution was until after I did a /system reset of the router, following Astounding's comments, and reconfigured the router from start (i.e. minus the existing bridge and switch). Lo and behow, traf...
Hi, I have tried the suggested VLAN but I was not able to get to the Net. Various graphs in Winbox however indicate traffic flowing in both Tx and Rx directions but the web page indicates that the router default getaway (i.e. 192.168.101.1) was not reachable. This is confirmed by the fact that I can...
I attempted to run with your solution this morning but wasn't able to complete it before i had to leave for work (Australia time). Will try later today and report back.
Dear Community, I have tried on more than one occasion to setup VLANs on my RB450G V4.2 but could not make it to work. It's obvious that I do not have the correct setups. Despite various trials of VLAN settings, I ended up restoring pre-VALN config everytime. Can someone be kind enough to give me so...
A serial null-modem cable and HyperTerminal should get you out of it. You might also be able to connect by mac address if you can use another ethernet port without the VLAN assigned.
Thanks SurferTim for your reply.
I think your solution sounds right. Let me find out and let you know.
Dear Gurus, I am noobie here. And need help, please. This is my first real problem with RB450G. Without any ethernet cable connections to it, my RB450G (version 4.2) appears to start OK judging by the two beeps. And it would stay on. But if I hook it up via one of its ports, it will reboot itself ov...
