Distribution (lack of) Middle East

Dear Mikrotik, when are you going to have any decent distribution in the Middle East / United Arab Emirates? Your local distributors here either does not carry stock (Prologix) of most products - and others does not even answer emails. X-Concepts (former distributor) was not better. You make it very...

BUG 4.13 - SNMP broken for voltage and temperature

Hi,

i just upgraded from 4.10 to 4.13 on my RB450. Now my SNMP monitor is complaining that the devices SNMP OIDs does not exist. (Temperature and Voltage)

(No such Name - SNMP Error 2)

I have double checked the OIDs - and they have not changed.

Re: PPTP for the Network

sorry for the long delay.. just wireshark :-) port 80 access from hulu. You will see some IP's that are used only for location check. I dont remember them on top of my head - but from the many... IPs you only need to route a couple of them via VPN. Then you are telling hulu you are in the states... ...

Re: word to the wise - cold and rb750

Normis - did you check the RB750 WITH power supply in the box - or without?

I have just blown a power supply in 42deg hot weather :-(

it was the factory supplied 24v power supply - and now it delivers 19,5v - without load - and on load 7-8v. :-(

Re: Routerboard with wireless and 3G - which got lowest pwr

Thanks :-) - your wattage is that based on 12v?

do you know if Lenovo branded Sierra 3G modem works on the ROS?

I have one of them around here somewhere. Or is there a better and less power hungry 3G card?

Re: PPTP connection bundling

i tried RR - but that was not good. what would you recommend? I have tried multi channel UDP streaming with file transfer software - and I can actually get about 6+ mpbs constant traffic from my server to here. But using VPN i max out on 700-800 kbps via MT on same network. When I used bonding - int...

Re: RB433 & RB433AH Repair Manual....

Xconcepts and Alpha really that bad? i have bought a lot from xconcepts - and they have 0 tech guys. Only a desperate sales guy who is trying to learn about IP routing. Alpha - I have only bought from them a couple of times but their tech support seems a little better. They do have tech staff - but...

Re: RB433 & RB433AH Repair Manual....

you should ask your distributor, they have it. hi Normis - that only works if the distributor is any good. The one we have in the UAE does not have a single person there who knows anything about Mikrotik. They are simple box-shifters. So whenever anyone goes there to get help - help is very limited...

Routerboard with wireless and 3G - which got lowest pwr cons

Hi guys,

i would like to make my own 3G router :-) and was trying to find out if anyone knows which combination has the lowest power consumption?

How about "underclocking" etc. How low can you go? and which RB would you recommend?

Re: PPTP connection bundling

thanks for your help. I got it to work - but it was not a happy trial :-)

combined speed was lower - and that seems to be due to available bandwidth jumping up and down on each interface due to ISPs "network management"

So next trial is a UDP based tunnel :-)

thanks!

Re: PPTP connection bundling

okay im trying to figure out how to set it up. I have now both PPTP and OVPN enabled as servers. questions: Since I cant use dynamic IPs on the interfaces - and the interfaces need to be created "up front" how is the best way to set it up? /bonding only accepts a valid interface name. You ...

PPTP - speed problems - Mt2mt vs Mac 2mt

Hi guys, I have a "funny" issue. It seems like my slingbox speed varies a lot... Scenario 1: Microtik 450G to x86 Mikrotik server - mangle rule - take all Mac (ip 192.x.x.15) traffic through PPTP Scenario 2: Mac PPTP to x86 Mikrotik router (through 450G) In scenario 1 - i get sling stream ...

Re: PPTP connection bundling

thanks - will bonding work over x number of PPTP links? Load balance will not work since im trying to increase speed on 1 stream and thereby work around the ISPs limits- not multiple streams. has anyone tried? or have a short get started guide? :-) I have a MT on a ESXi as the "vpn" server...

PPTP connection bundling

Hi guys, where I live they like to limit your speeds - and they even do it on VPN connections - so max transfer tops out at maybe 1200-1400 kbps no matter what I do but when I use "non-std" multiple UDP stream transfer software is able to reach close to full bandwidth. (on 16mb i can get a...

Re: RS232 to Ethernet Imlementatin

is there a windows driver that can take advantage of that :-) A RS232 to IP box costs about $50,- so if I could get my weather station "online" by paying $10-$20 for a driver for windows (or even free) i would be happy :-)

feature request - same default config

Hi guys, it seems like the default configuration for each different type of installation is different 1. RouterOS on RB450G - default creates a bridge - uses bridge+eth2-eth5 for private net 2. RouterOS on RB750 - does not create a bridge - uses eth2-eth5 for private net 3. RouterOS on x86 - uses ET...

Re: PPTP for the Network

The problem I had was: StongVPN gives you a public IP. That means you need to setup a SRC based NAT/masquerade on the VPN for the traffic to flow in and out. Then I use mangle rules to send the traffic out. Sending all the traffic out through the VPN would slow down your internet line. So now I have...

Re: Beginner help PPTP Voip only routing

thanks :-) was not it though :-(

I have now limited it so only www.whatip.com will kick in routing through vpn - 74.208.23.0/24

But still my PPTP shows hardly anything comming in - but quit a few packets going out.

So outbound I think is fine - but problem is nothing is comming back.
