Re: Firewall rules to force use of upstaream proxy

Anybody? Surely this must me possible.

I have a working understanding of routeros firewalling, just need a little advise. I've tried blocking all but proxy and dns address, but that doesn't work.

Firewall rules to force use of upstaream proxy

I have potential clients that want to self filter themsleves though an upstream proxy service. The proxy settings are set on their individual machines on their lan. It is important to these potential clients that the proxy cannot be bypassed. Our CPE's are routerOS in wireless station mode, routed w...

Re: how many clients on rb433ah

The rb433ah is a plenty powerful devise as an AP or router. Not sure if I would have it doing both though. You may be better off setting it as a bridge, and have a router for any routing or Nat.

Re: how many clients on rb433ah

It depends on many factors including what type of client radios, polling mechanism, the speeds your selling etc. But in my experience, we are getting about 35-40 clients per radio card on an all mikrotik network. This is a mixture of 1Mbps and 2Mbps download speeds.

Re: A new ISP and new problems

The interface facing your customers needs a public address in the same network you are assigning. It sounds like you have it set up to issue private addresses (192.168.x.x) to your customers. Sounds like you may need to do some sub-netting of your /24. There is a wealth of info out there on just how...

Re: Point-to-point link security

I'm not an expert on the upgrade path, but if it says its upgradable to 3.x, then it probably is. Note that 3.3 is not the same as 3.30. You will want 3.30. Also, make sure you are downloading the correct version for the hardware you have, IE. mipsbe for a mipsbe devise, powerpc for a powerpc device...

Re: rb1100 NTP client will not sync

Turns out the 66.96.99.4 does not ping, and a trace route dies at 66.96.99.1. It is a public ntp server. Maybe its set to not respond to pings?? But I know its an active server, because nearly every device on my network is using it and syncing just fine. I put in a different server address as seen b...

Re: Point-to-point link security

On the point to point links I have, I simply use wpa2. Sometimes I also hide ssid, but any hacker worth his salt can extract a hidden ssid, so this should not be used as a primary security measure. Nstreme is a polling mechanism. It has nothing to do with security. It will usually increase your thro...

rb1100 NTP client will not sync

Here is my config:

#
/system ntp client
set enabled=yes mode=unicast primary-ntp=66.96.99.4 secondary-ntp=0.0.0.0

My clock never syncs. I am using the same ntp server on several other routers with no problems at all. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Dude 3.4 lost all data on reboot

I have The Dude running on a rb450g with routeros ver 3.30. On reboot on the device, I lost all my historical data. Is their a save setting I'm missing? I'm using the onboard memory only. No cf card at this time.
