Re: Recently we are facing some problems 433ah with 2 XR5

Should be OK (rb 4w + XR5 2x6w = 16w) since the PS only put out 19w your getting close to the limit. We have run this setup with out issues but prefer to use a beefier supply. One possible issue is low qaulity jumpers, they have been know to create interference Issues..... Does one card at a time wo...

Re: is this link possible?

I have not looked a the link but providing you have clearance technically it will work. The issue becomes reliability which calculates out to 84% (with a 3ft 32dbi dish)... not good in my books. The thing is that there is a bit of magic involved and this link could work with out issue for years, the...

It is also possible that the "foam" is used to absorb microwave to improve the performance of the antenna and prevent/reduce reflection that may occur from the shroud. There are various type of microwave absorbing material out there and they vary widely in performance and cost.

Use RTS/CTS or nestreme if possible. Increase HW retries to 6 or 8, improve poor clients.

1. small rubber duck on each unit 2. directly cable between connectors, with an attenuator 3. directly cable and adjust TX power to almost nothing 1 and 2 are OK and will work great, keep you signal strength to -50ish most cards will tolerate close to -30 or more but you start playing with fire at t...

Re: comparison to proxim....

You should only see latency issues increase after 10 or so clients if you are using standard 802.11a/b/g. If you use RTS/CTS or better yet nstreme you can easily to 50+. We had no issues until we hit 75 users and we were only using a 10mhz channel so the bandwidth maxed out around 10mbps. MP11 are n...

Re: How to Choose the right Antenna

For a quick and dirty way, go the the Proxim site and download there Link calculator spread sheet. The genaric section will allow you to put in distance, rx, tx and will calculate the link reliability. In general for back hauls shoot for 99.999%, lower level links could drop to 99.95-99.99%. Remembe...

Re: Wireless link best practices

Building and "clutter"(trees etc) data tends to be very expensive, and you really only need it for doing distribution as a any microwave p2p link should be LOS when ever possible or they can be come less predicable and reliable. If you have a building you can calculate the Fresnel zone siz...

Re: Wireless link best practices

I use both. Google earth is handy for getting positions but only if you have super Hi res of the area, if not it is a bit useless. If you have any terrain or buildings to deal with a good gps is well worth the cost as you can travel the path and find out if an obstruction is on the "line" ...

Re: Wireless link best practices

No, the bumps are normal, and will be different for every link and antenna height combination. You just want to avoid a dip at the end (at your antenna). You also want to avoid a sharp(steep) bump at the receiving antenna as it can cause fade problems when it "rolls" of the peak due to cha...

Re: Wireless link best practices

A bit of clarification. The First one with the sweet spot marked is a poor link at -77 as the sweet spot is not at the end of the link as in graphic # 2 where the signal is -60ish. So to move the sweet spot to your antenna you need to lower (or raise ) one of the antennas to get a graphic show in th...

Re: Wireless link best practices

Your antenna height can (not just freznel zone) be critical to a good stable link. Once you have created your link in path loss, move the antenna height up and down at each end and watch your signal strength change. You will notice that the is a "sweet spot" where the signal is peaked and ...

Re: Too frequent problems with R52n (asymetric signal levels)

The R52(H) are know to blow the diversity chips resulting in a Tx/RX difference of about 15-20db. Not having worked with the N version I can't say if this is relevant or not.

Couldn't agree with you more. We like the platform and its flexibility as it allows us to do things the competition can't. And we can do it all on the same interface, which helps in other areas. Try and leave 5mhz or more be tween channels (edges) if gear is collocated. I find most cards seem to have selectivity of about -40db or so.. meaning if you do a scan can see a neighbouring channel at more the -60db you are likely to have problems particularly if there is no spacing between the chan...

Re: Looking for a GOOD example of Nstreme in multipoint

I have tried with and with out CSMA and in most cases it seems to work better with out. My take is that CSMA, being a collision detection protocol should not be needed in in a polling environment and thus should disabled as you should not have any collisions to worry about. If left on I would guess ...

In most cases we use the default packet size of 3200 with best fit, with CSMA disabled(box checked). Hardware retries are set to 6. Adaptive Noise Immunity is turned on. We are using Nstreme PMP on all our APs serving over 600 clients. Most APs have around 30 or so clients and clients have packages ranging from 1.3 to 5mbps down load. Depending on the AP we see around 10mbps of through put per AP(10mhz channel). Most units are 3.30 with wireless test package, and a ...

Re: 500km link posible?

Technically the link will work provided you have clearance and are in a vacuum. The issue is reliability. At the distances you are looking at you can not have a quality link. If you get lucky it may work but fading due to the atmospheric conditions will make the link unstable. It may work for weeks ...
