MT v7, OSPF, a dozen of subnets, at least 30 routers, I would like to use UM to authorize PPPoE around whole network,
At the moment I use local PPPoE server with secrets
well, you should take a look on ellacoya e30 switch to manage bandwith,
It has almost all possible traffic - p2p, skype , voip, sip - more then 200 possible kinds etc, mayby MT should have something similar
vlan--------------------------------------------------------------------------vlan
lan-eth/RB or PC/wlancard --any kind of link--wlan card/RB or PC/eth-lan
I did a 77-80 mbpd fdx link with 2xcore2duo, 512 mb ram and 4x wmia123ag
mt 3beta10,indoor,,ns2,packing policy, framer limiter etc.
in bt test I got cpu at 60-70%, so enough power to tx/rx more
so why not take 6 card each side, mt 3.x, and also core2du cpu ?
well, I tried this - ns2 and bonding 2x2 to compare http://wiki.mikrotik.biz/wiki/index.php/Agregacja_%C5%82%C4%85cz_%22Bonding%22 It is taken from manual and you should read this http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Super_wireless_test In one word: with a pipe built with 2-3-4 mt oraz cards each side you ...
eh, wimax - 2x14mhz = 60mbps, IP traffic 40mbps - cost for link p-t-p about 10-15k $, license for this speed next 7-10k $ per year. In poland, 1 city over 100k citizents if more then 100k
compare with mt:
linkt with ns2 - 54mbps fd, cost about 1-4k depends on ideas
I work in a company that offers equpment to hfc and also a wimax lately. ex. cambridge broadband networks - vectastar3500 I talked with my product manager to offer mikrotik for 5ghz as a last mile to end-user, but we still have to use 2 systems - this CB and MT - If mt would support wimax (3,4-3,6 g...
Well, in poland you have to buy a license to use 3,4-3,6 band and it is not cheap if you want to have more then 10mbps throuput, So I don;t see a point to change 5ghz to 3,5ghz
to use wimax in poland with these cards they will have possility to set channel width
1.75, 2.5, 3.5, 5, 6, 7, 10, 14 mhz
I don;t see it in tech doc. just 5,10,20,40 mhz step
wimax is late, about 5-7 years to be on the top,,in Poland you have to pay for channels, and won;t get more than 16mbps - law. I will stay with MT and 5ghz - nstreme2, bonding about 100mbps :D
on every ap you can mark and set queues for each services and max speed : www prio 2,mail prio 3 ,dns prio 1, p2p and other (inc. p2p not marked by mt for example bearshare) with prio 8
if it is a pure ap for users about 2-3 cards, if a bridge p-t-p 1 or 2 for good speed. CPU works worse if it has to put 2 processes - divide power for two cards - 5ghz takes more than 2,4ghz to support good link. Look at post "65km" and this what marksx wrote - p3-1ghz point to point - 80 ...
sr2 and sr5 have bad sensitiveness, try to put normal atheros 5213 card , I tried TP-LINK WN-551G PCI and got -58 , for example with prism 2,5 3com oem / tonze I got -70/-75 300m to client, apc with panel antenna.
galaxynet - I just told about ack, not about it is set manually - too good signal may cause problems - it should be about -60, next thing - are there any others AccessPoints in 2,4 ghz ? if you have cm9 card - it take about 15min to built 5ghz antenna from beer can :) I tested a link for 7,5km - one...
over 5ghz so 10ghz and more it is hard to buil long-stable link, becouse of wether, temp - can not allowed to use it... With frequency distance is lower.
