Re: Need a little help with VoIP and QoS

Ok so "limit-at=100k" reserves 100k of bandwidth, both upload and download, for the packets marked as VoIP? When VoIP is not being used, is that 100k freed up for other uses? I've had problems understanding the difference between limit-at and max-limit and how all of the rules work togethe...

Need a little help with VoIP and QoS

I've been reading around and there seems to be many different methods of prioritizing VoIP, however I'm not sure what to make of all of that and which method would be best suited to my situation. My setup consists of a Linksys PAP2T VoIP ATA using the SIP protocol, a RB450G router running RouterOS 4...

Re: NAND flash memory life expectancy (write cycles)

If all of the clients are statically assigned on the DHCP server, this wouldn't be an issue. Bingo. All my network devices/hosts/clients are statically assigned. Makes it easier to keep track of things when each devices keeps the same IP address. Though "guest" devices are assigned from t...

Re: NAND flash memory life expectancy (write cycles)

The number of writes is now at about 25 per hour instead of the previous 812 per hour.

Re: NAND flash memory life expectancy (write cycles)

/tool graphing> print store-every: 5min page-refresh: 300 I guess that would be it. Changed to every 24 hours. I also changed: /ip dhcp-server config set store-leases-disk never Previously was set to 5min. I really have no need for that to be written to disk. Anything else I need to watch out for? ...

NAND flash memory life expectancy (write cycles)

Had a quick glance at my RB450G's system resource statistics and noticed something... write-sect-total seems to be pretty high and keeps going up a little too fast for my liking. Am I worrying too much, or is there something going on that is going to wear out the flash memory prematurely? What can I...

Re: Help with load balancing setup.

I can have traffic on either one (by enabling/disabling the default routes so only one is active), but not both (one always takes precedence over the other when I enable both, but that is probably expected behavior). The problem comes when I enable the following (notice they are disabled right now):...

Re: Help with load balancing setup.

if you set gateway=ether2-wan2, it means that the whole internet is directly on that port, and not beyond some gateway. you should specify here IP address of gateway obtained via DHCP Not totally sure what you mean by that. That port is connected to the cable modem which is just a modem. Unless you...

Re: Help with load balancing setup.

1.) You're marking routing without marking connections. It may be doable that way, but I think you're probably asking for problems. How would I do it the other way? I just followed what the wiki said to do. 2.) You don't have any routes that don't have a routing mark, so if nothing gets a routing m...

Re: Help with load balancing setup.

Here are the relevant configurations. Just for testing purposes thus far I only added two mangle rules. I can see that traffic is being marked correctly, however as soon as I enable the associated route, complete loss of connectivity occurs for any traffic that is marked for that route. I must be do...

Help with load balancing setup.

I have a RouterBoard RB450G, with connections from two ISPs, one is an ADSL connection which uses PPPoE and the other is a cable connection which uses DHCP. I have already configured the interfaces, ADSL modem is connected to ether1-wan1 and uses pppoe-out1 as the reachable interface. Cable modem co...

Re: WAN services not available to local users, please help!

I've used pragmat's solution with success.

However there's an issue, I have multiple WANs (2 to be precise), how can I restrict the port forward to a specific WAN? If I specify an interface for any of those NAT rules I'm back to square one with not being able to access WAN services locally.

WAN usage metering, how to?

I'm load balancing two WAN connections and would like a way of keeping track of how much data goes through each WAN interface on a monthly basis.

How would I do this? I've been searching for a while and haven't come up with anything relevant.

Accessing local server using WAN IP from local network.

Basically I have a RB450G with RouterOS 4.6, I have a server on the local network, behind the NAT, which has been configured to forward correct ports for outside access. I want to make it so when I connect to the WAN IP from the local network, it's as if I was accessing the router from the outside, ...
