Re: Suggestions for IPv6 configuration

Did you try running DHCPv6 client on the ROS x86 router on the LTE interface? The only correct solution to this is if you get DHCPv6 PD advertised. Then you can split that prefix into smaller subnets if necessary and/or assign it to your LAN-bound interface. If you get no PD, then perhaps you could...

Suggestions for IPv6 configuration

Hi, i'm seeking input on how best to configure: A test network with multiple subnets is routed using an RB1100. This in turn is connected to an x86 RouterOS install for internet access wired -\ wireless ----- RB1100 ---- x86RouterOS --- USB LTE --- Internet server -/ Connection to the internet is th...

Re: IPv6 address with USB LTE Pantech UML295

Alas, I don't think the LTE device supports DHCP - i'm not seeing any response packets from it (i have firewall logging all IPv6 traffic). I understand that SLAAC isn't technically for routers according to the RFCs, but i'd hate to just install a linux box to act as the router (and it get an addres...

Feature Request: SLAAC

Hello, I'm requesting the inclusion of SLAAC into RouterOS. In my case, I use in a few locations Verizon Wireless UML295 USB LTE devices. These do not support DHCPv6, and as such there's no way to get a global IPv6 address from them. (see this thread http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t...

Re: IPv6 address with USB LTE Pantech UML295

The LTE service supports IPv6. Your MAC uses SLAAC (stateless autoconfig) to get its address and default GW from the LTE service. Mikrotik, however, does not support receiving an IPv6 address / gateway from SLAAC. You could try putting dhcpv6-client on the LTE interface, and assigning the results t...

IPv6 address with USB LTE Pantech UML295

Hi, i'm wanting to try and figure out why I dont get a global IPv6 address when connecting a USB LTE device to my x86 device (RouterOS 6.27). It appears as a USB Ethernet adapter - in Linux it uses the cdc_ether driver When connecting to Mac OSX, the following occurs: en7: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SM...

routerboards which support turning power off to USB

Hello, i'm wanting to purchase a routerboard (ideally an "integrated solution") such as the RB750UP or RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN - as long as it's got ethernet and a USB for a 3G/4G modem that's all i need. I'm currently using an older alix x86 based solution, but find i'm having to regularly powe...

VPN (l2tp/ipsec) for Mac OSX 10.8 clients

Hi,

i seen to have gone round and round in circles trying to get some OSX 10.8 clients to have a VPN (l2tp/ipsec/whatever) to a RB1100.

Does anyone have a working configuration they'd be able to share?

thanks,

Re: max number of multicast groups on router?

I guess my question really was there any limits software wise in ros - the problem that's been seen is things like Mac OS X systems that start multicast (bonjour) for service discovery and advertisement - so there might be lots of really small groups with only 1 or 2 members at most. So lots and lot...

max number of multicast groups on router?

Hi, is there a maximum number of multicast groups that routeros can handle? If so, is it hardware dependent. We're thinking about multicast in our organization, and are concerned at the number of systems that start multicast groups - think Mac OS X Laptops, and other bits of software. Just wondering...

If not, then is there an ETA (can you let us know what the issue is?)

Re: Using two 3G modems with routerboard

The 0.0.0.0/0 is what you'll most likely need to use.. It basically means "all routes for which you don't have one specified"

You'll also need a NAT rule (src NAT) and any other firewall rules you need

enabled= Vs disabled=

Should everything be standardized on enabled/disabled - at present, some things seem flipped and could cause people to set the wrong thing in configuration?

ok: I've now replaced the fans on two units I've described in previous posts, and the results are great! running on my desk, I can't hear the fan at all in the RB1100 when powered up. I think I have a similar issue. (5.0rc7 on a RB1100) If I connect via SSH, and don't logout, but rather "exit" the terminal app (Mac OSX) then i'm unable to login again via SSH - I get a connection refused. /ip service set ssh disabled=yes /ip service set ssh disabled=no fixes the problem,...

i have one RB1100 running without fans - it's in a rack where there's fans at the back sucking air through that's pretty quiet (quiet enough to be in my office) - the CPU temp hovers @ 40C - the secret here was to take the heatsink off, and apply CPU thermal compound - there just didn't seem to be e...

RB1100 fanless?

Hello,

just wondered if anyone had run the RB1100 for any periods of time reliably without the internal fans - they're a little noisy to have in an office environment (that doesn't get hot). If not, does anyone have any better ideas for fans/heatsinks instead of using stock?
