Re: 3G Modem - Signal Strength?

You can also see this in Winbox : -> open winbox -> left-click "PPP" -> left-click "Interface" tab ( default ) -> double-left-click on your 3G modem interface -> left-click on "Info..." in right menu, almost on the bottom -> make sure that in the "interface" o...

I have changed the UDP lower. Can I request this feature ( automatically clearing tracked connections on failover ) for a future release ?

Don't forget to set up your interface for proxy-arp

Interfaces -> Ether2 ( your interface ) -> ARP : Proxy-arp

Does WAN failover clear old tracked connections ?

Does multiple WAN failover ( http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Two_gateways_failover ) automatically clear the connection tracking of the "old" WAN interface ? I'm asking this because I have a router that has two connections, a wireless P2P link, and a PPPoE ADSL connection. We route SIP and R...

Re: Problem: Route VoIP (SIP) traffic over another route

I will reply to my own post : I have contacted Mikrotik support ( Maris ) and he has helped me solve the problem. The problem was that I had enabled the new route, but there was still an entry for that SRC nat in the Connections tab of the IP -> Firewall. In other words, connection tracking tracked ...

make sure you queue on the correct interface. It will most likely be different interface for outgoing as for incoming ( that's how I configure it )

Re: Mikrotik and VoIP: Fax T.38 transmit problem behind NAT

thanks very much for this post. It's very useful to me. I have been battling with FoIP for weeks, I'll try and upgrade to 5.1 and see if that fixes the FoIP problem. I can't believe I dismissed the router as the possible cause. So many things with T.38 can go wrong, but I didn't think the router wou...

Re: uTorrent real problem QOS, help

I usually identify bittorrent traffic by the vast amounts of open ports and new connections to a certain PC. But because of their encrypted nature, it's very hard to identify bittorrent traffic. Rather than try and block or identify bittorrent, try and identify everything else, then allow a certain ...

Multiple uplinks : traffic going out the wrong interface

Hi Guys, Sorry , this is about the same topic as the VoIP Sip routing, but I presume the title scared people off. Simply put, my problem is that I have two uplinks on one RB450G router. I configure a static route to route traffic to a certain IP range over PPPoE ( ETH1) and the rest over default gat...

Re: Problem: Route VoIP (SIP) traffic over another route

I have uploaded a screenshot of the error ( large file 5MB ) , including the packet trace and the error here : http://www.hyperfileshare.com/d/747869a7 EDIT : I have tested with a SSH route, and that works flawlessly. It seems this only happens with SIP traffic ? Even more strange : If I change the ...

Problem: Route VoIP (SIP) traffic over another route

Hi guys, Thanks for taking the time to open this post. I don't post very often, and I usually keep trying and testing until I get something working, but I think I might have hit a wall ( or a bug in the routerOS SIP helper perhaps ). One of our customers has a simple network with two connections : A...

Re: modify queue will reset queue statistics and lose packet

Omega and Fewi, Thanks for your replies. I will have a go at changing the script to use other queues. I'll make a few standard queues ( 20 ) and direct traffic dynamically to the different queues. I'll let you know if the packetloss problem is fixed when I have it running. ( We're flooded atm, so ve...

Re: modify queue will reset queue statistics and lose packet

Omega : Some of our customers use highly unreliable rural ADSL connections. They will have 12000 mbkbps one minute, then it rains and they get 1000kbps. I use a script to change queue sizes depending on how much speed is available. This script runs all the time, and changes queues as needed. It work...

Re: modify queue will reset queue statistics and lose packet

Hi LastResort, thanks for your reply. I understand what you are trying to say, but I must have explained my issue wrong. In order to clarify, let me try to explain again. The packet drop doesn't occur because of the queues dropping TCP packets, it seems to occur because of physical ports being shut ...

Looking for manufacturer of WHITE casings for RB450G

Hi guys,

We're looking to buy WHITE casings for RB450G. The metal cases are fine, but our clients like the white boxes better. Any manufacturer out there who makes the boxes in white, rather than black ?

Cheers.

Re: Anyone had any experience with SIP phones?

no problems with the Mikrotik and SIP. Works out of the box, no need for NAT or anything like it. You should have your ADSL modem in pure bridge mode, and use PPPoE from Mikrotik.

modify queue will reset queue statistics and lose packets

When I change the queue properties ( for instance, I change queue tree from 4000kbps to 3000kbps ) then I see packet loss. It's almost like the interface is undergoing some sort of "on/off" very quickly. The packetloss is minimal, but on voip it' spretty bad, I can hear it. Is there any wa...

Restoring a backup to a newer firmware version : Safe ?

Hi Guys, Got loads of RB450G's out there on 4.6. I finally decided to upgrade to 4.13 due to , I guess, bugfixes and security fixes. I must admit I haven't read through all the release changes, I just assume that it's reasonably safe to move to 4.13. I'm not upgrading for extra features, purely for ...

Hi David,

Here in Australia rain definately affects DSL connections. It's actually so bad that you can hear the crackle on the phoneline when it rains. It definately affects upstream and downstream data speeds.

Hi guys, I wanted to drop in a say a big "Thank you" to Mikrotik for making such a wonderful product. I have been in the computer industry for little over 12 years. Mostly worked with Cisco but also have seen Nortel / Juniper and SOHO networking gear like Billion and Draytek. In that time,...
