Re: Nstreme Dual - unable to create management VLAN - how to

We do it this way, using a trunk port on a Cisco switch:

-Put ether1 and nstreme1 as ports in bridge1
-create mgmt vlan on bridge1 (vlanx)
-assign mgmt ip address to vlanx

Everything else will be trunked through.

Bridge hosts/MAC address table limit?

Does anyone know if the bridge hosts table has a maximum number of entries, and if so, what is it and what happens to the RB when that limit is reached? Does is go crazy?

I believe anything Cisco will broadcast all traffic when its mac address table is full. Same deal here?

Re: New products, prices and specs

I'm curious (regarding the Groove): how does 1x1 constitute MIMO?

Re: client radio authentication

You can always turn off the ethernet port on the client's radio, assuming you are using a RouterBoard solution for CPE's. Just make sure you don't have the IP address on the ethernet interface you disable, or you'll have to roll a truck anyways.

Success with 802.11N/NV2

Just wanted to share our results for a link we finished field testing up here in Canada. Distance: 8.1 km (5 mi) in urban environment Site A: RB411AH w/ ROS 4.16, R52Hn, MMCX-SMA pigtails x 2, ARC Wireless 23 dBi dual-pol integrated panel w/ integrated enclosure, ~250' AGL (building mount) Site B: R...

Re: Max CPE's on one AP. Experiences please!

He said 24 GHz, not 2.4 GHz. I can't imagine you'll get much of a link at 40km with 24 GHz tho.

Re: Bandwidth Test Questions

The Mikrotik bw test will only run between two MT routerboards. Is that what you're trying to do?

nstreme dual - nv2?

I'm doing some testing with RB433AH's, 2 XR5 cards in each, running ROS 4.16 with the wireless-nv2 package. There is no "nv2 dual slave" mode option for the wireless cards. Is this something that is yet to happen, or does it have to be nstreme? Or will it automatically run nv2?

Re: Best Settings for nlos performance

I thought that 900mzh could go through almost any thing?
900 MHz has a better ability to penetrate obstructions than 2.4 GHz, such as a few trees or walls, but NOTHING can penetrate the ground like that path needs. Even through trees there is significant signal loss.

Re: 2000' wireless bridge, mikrotik + XR9's + yagis

Throughput depends on: channel size, modulation, signal strength, signal quality, noise floor level, interference levels, etc. At 900 MHz you should be okay without a completely clear LOS, especially at such a short distance. Just remember that 900 MHz can be plagued by interference. The RB411 shoul...

Re: Building a full duplex link.

Full duplex doesn't transmit with 2 radios, it uses one radio to transmit and one to receive. Full duplex indicates bidirectional data transmission is possible AT ALL TIMES.

Re: Same MAC registered twice OS 4.11

If you copy a config from one CPE into another, the wireless MAC address may also go with it. The MAC address of the wireless interface can actually be changed via winbox or the CLI. jj.jpg Or try to pop a new terminal window and use this: > interface wireless print Flags: X - disabled, R - running ...

Re: Wireless Link Planning: How do you do it

I use PathLoss. The company I work for bought it, but I need to better familiarize myself with RadioMobile. More height is not always better. We've had problems with ground reflections causing >20 dB fades on some improperly engineered links. We've got an 8.5 mile link with dishes at ~70 feet on bot...

WDS dropping when link flooded

I'm having issues with WDS links dropping when a throughput test is performed or when running a web-based speed test over a link. The speed starts out great then slows and then the link drops. It eventually comes back and gives good throughput again. Has anyone dealt with this before? I should add, ...
