Re: PPTP server fails with windows client

I am having the same issue on a 6.40.6 RB2011. Previously working Windows 10 VPN, stopped working. I have not changed ROS version, but client Windows version has probably updated.

I suspect that there's been a deprecated cipher causing a problem.

In the 6.38 changelog, there is a very stern warning about bridges and RSTP. What's new in 6.38 (2016-Dec-30 11:33): Important note!!! There should be a way to relay the traffic over the IPSec tunnel, if the Netgear can do it I can't believe that there's no way to make a Mikrotik do it!

IPSEC Tunnel with 3rd party router not coming up.

Greetings all. I sent this to support@mikrotik.com but I thought I might see what the forum had to say as well. I installed a new client tonight and after getting all of the routing set up (it's all static routing - no pppoe or any other encapsulations), the clients Linksys VPN (BEFVP41 v2.1) device...

Re: how to setup wireless 360 using 3 sector antenna

If you use different channels, and don't use WDS, doesn't this mean the client has to drop association with the first radio card before it can associate with another? If so, the resulting experience for the user is temporary loss of connectivity (and probably dropped VoIP/streaming media) at each t...

I've found that it can be *VERY* difficult to mac-telnet into RB's when you are connecting to a port that's a member of a bridge group. I have a number of CPE units in the field that got deployed with no IP assigned to the unit and configured in bridging mode before we established this was an issue....

UDP tests are deceptive, as most real world traffic is TCP. Doing a TCP test to your AP will give you some indication of what actual capacity is, but going *through* the router not *to* the router is the best way to test. e.g. < Btest on PC >---- <RB> --- <RB> ---- < Btest on PC >

Re: how to setup wireless 360 using 3 sector antenna

You will end up with CSMA problems if you use the same frequency on all sectors. Use non-overlapping channels for best results. In the USA that's 2412MHz, 2437Mhz, and 2462Mhz. If you use the same SSID you can have clients choosing which antenna is the best e.g. "Roaming". For best results...

Then it probably wasn't CSMA.

Maybe just having the carrier active increases your BER, thus reducing the modulation rates (which is in turn reducing your TCP throughput).

Also make sure you are running at _least_ 80Mhz of channel separation for running cards in the same board. I find that adjacent channels don't work at all, and one or two channels away still gets some interference depending on the transceivers.

Multiple radio AP with standard 802.11 client

After reading several posts for feature requests and the poll on the wiki, it got me to thinking about something that may (or may not) be possible. Someone suggested making a single radio transmit on one channel, and receive on another. This solution would obviously require ROS on both ends, as well...

The Pacific wireless GD58-22 is a nice high gain grid in a very small package, if you need a few more DB. It's not much larger (if any) than the PA-19.

The CM9 is a very good card, but much lower power than the 2511MP. If you want 23dBm, look at the Compex WLM54G. I can't vouch for it though, as I've not used one. I tend to use the SR2 for AP applications, as it has very nice output power (26dB) and excellent receive sensitivity. The XR2 is even mo...

I F****** love the R52. If it's enough output power for your application you can NOT go wrong with this card!! I cannot stress my opinion enough that the Mikrotik R52 is an EXCELLENT card. For example, I had a point to point link approximatly 2kM using CM9 cards. Signal was "ok" and noise ...

Not sure whether you could use the telephone 48V to power the router either technically or legally though ...
It's not anywhere near enough current to power a wireless card.

Use at least a 15W power supply, if you're planning on heavily utilizing the board. The power requirement for just the bare board is something like 6W (check the manual to be sure), so if you add a high power card (SR2/5) you'll need another 4-6W, and 1-3W for a lower powered card (R52, CM9)

What's the point of 3 ethernet and 3 mini PCI with only 175Mhz CPU? I am hard pressed to imagine any use for such a product.

175Mhz is plenty for a CPE, but a CPE doesn't need that many ports... so I am forced to ask 'wtf?'

You don't need RADIUS for a point to point link, just use ACL entries on the routers.
