Am I correct in assuming I could obtain higher data rates with that mode on a simple bridge?

I followed this tutorial to setup my wireless bridge: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Transparently_Bridge_two_Networks I'm wondering if I need WDS enabled and if that's impacting the speed of my connection. I tried some other configurations without any luck. I thought I could use the 'station-bridge'...
